Meris Enzo Synth Pedal

Hey, folks... I'm likely to get my Enzo as soon as my EHX Synth 9 pedal sells, but I have a question. How does the envelope and pitch shifter sound on dry mode? Is it a decent low octave, and can I also get typical autowah sounds out of it? If so, that'd be great, because it's likely two more pedals I can get rid of.

Thanks.

So, has anyone had any luck with taming the large volume peak when the Enzo is engaged? I really like the sounds and functions of it but that volume spike is huge especially when you kick on such a dramatic effect. Thanks for any help.

It's a bit of a nuisance at times. I'm using an MF-Boost that is CV controlled by an EHX 8-step, that is controlled via MIDI to set the volume, and a Boss ES-5 is sending the MIDI. I already had this in my rig, so it was an easy fix.

I don't like that as a solution, because it is so complex. What I had plans to try was the output mode of the Enzo. There is a mode where you output the synth on the left and the clean bass on the right. I was hoping that for one, when bypassed, the clean signal is back on the left side, and that the Mix would then become a volume control for the synth only. Meris stuff tends to be odd in implementation, so without testing, I'm guessing it will work.

Beyond these two ideas, there isn't much else, and becomes much harder to work with in stereo. I suppose if you are using a DAW to get the signal, then you just turn it down.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I’m using it in my live rig pedalboard and it is just so loud. I’m wondering if I need a fixed volume pedal (nose or signal pad) after it. Then I would route the Enzo and the volume into a one loop loop switcher. I really love the sounds of the Enzo but it seems like this was overlooked. Do you know if there is even possibility for firmware updates in the future? Thanks again!

I don't know about Meris' plans / ability to update firmware. We haven't seen any updates for any products yet, nor have they specifically said, yes you can update and yes we will make new firmware.

I think it’s unlikely. When I suggested a different feature via firmware update, Angelo pretty much said the product was final as-is.

I was turning the knobs around and i finally got to some settings that sound and work great with Poly mode (pads ambient). now i want to save them to a DMC micro. When i hook up the DMC micro (TRS to MIDI) and as soon as I press either left or right footswitches i access the saved presets (factory default 12) in the Meris. this means i will lose whichever settings i've got :

how do i save those new settings ? Logically and correct me if i am wrong id have to create a new preset patch in the DMC micro and save those settings to it. but how can i automatically do that is there a way

I am very new to MIDI this is my first experience

thanks

I had a Micro until recently, and just before I got rid of it, I think I figured it out. When you want to save it to a new preset, make sure the micro is NOT active when you switch to that preset. Save the preset with the Meris, and THEN turn the Micro on.

Yup, use the DMC to set the PC# in the Meris 1 to 16. Make your knob changes, press and hold ALT for 2 seconds and the preset is saved in the Meris.

Now use the DMC to pick a different PC#. Make some changes to the sound, press and hold ALT.

Finally, navigate between the two PC#s you just saved to for recalling presets.

The unfortunate part about this is when you change one of the values using ALT you end up saving / overwriting the current preset.

Yep, I remember when I first read that in the manual and was a bit surprised. It seems like a very odd design choice and one which puts me off buying one.

Didn't you buy a FI that you are happy with?

Yes, I did. In fact I got to play it through a massive cab (Peavey 18” + 2x12”) at highish volume at a jam tonight and it sounds huge. Still, I like the immediacy of the Enzo. (I’ll be looking closely at the Source Audio C4/Spectrum too.)

Yeah, I'm skeptical of the C4. It has some limitations and add on requirements as well, and software :vomit:.

Still diggin the Enzo, especially with a second filter.

Everything has limitations, including Enzo. The specs are still in flux a bit but it’s shaping up to be a very capable and versatile pedal (I’m following sand participating in the discussion with Roger from SA). The add-on requirements are similar to (or less than) Enzo; one can access 6 presets without buying anything extra. Swapping out presets will require a phone; storing more than that (up to 128) requires the Hub and something to send MIDI PC messages (I use my phone or FI).

I know what you mean about software, I’m not mad keen on using it either. It’ll be similar to FI whereby one creates presets that are then, to some extent, tweakable from the pedal panel.
