Meris Enzo Synth Pedal

Also the few demos that exist currently have the same problem as most synth pedals in that the transient of the note just isn't sharp enough for fast rhythmic playing. If I can get my hands on one I'll see if I'm wrong.

I wonder if all the demos were in “envelope follower” mode. That’s usually where the problem partly stems from. This pedal also has a “triggered envelope” mode (like the EHX Bass Microsynth) which will hopefully make this much more usable.

I returned the Squaver I had partly because the envelope follower didn’t yield the snappy envelopes I require for creating synth bass patches. (I wish I’d had a synth at the time so I could’ve tried out hooking it up to the gate and pitch inputs.)

Do you have any idea if/when you’ll have a video review coming soon?

I need to contact Meris and see if they'll work with me. I can't afford the pedal at the moment until I sell a bunch of other stuff. So if you all want to contact them and put in a good word, that would be rad!

I’ve just posted the above message on their Facebook page.

From what i have heard the envelope is not tight enough. Definitely hope i am wrong but the guys telling me this are very legit engineers and producers. That being said they all still think the pedal is unreal. Personally, i dont need a noise machine on bass. If i was #2 guitar player or something like that, this would be an insta buy.

Great. Now I have to sell a kidney.
I don't buy pedals very often, as I'm quite happy with my rig... until Meris comes out with something. Got the Polymoon and Mercury... gonna need this one, too. Just wondering how low it will track notes, though.

Hi!

Here are some clips I recorded using my bass. For these, I put the Enzo in "Split mode", which puts analog dry on one output and the synth sound on the other. Also, I recorded these clips directly off the output of the Enzo

Hi, sounds really cool!

But, is it also possible to get a Bass synth tone out of this that is more of a classic synth tone? Here is an example, tone at the start.

Cool! Okay. Maybe this is closer to what you were thinking?

Again recorded dry, directly off the Enzo's outputs

That's not bad! A little light on the low end at first, but towards the end it kicks in.

Sounds like that one - maybe a little less dirty and bigger and rounder (if possible) could really be a nice showcase of the pedal for real world bass usage. A lot of the sounds of current synth pedals, I just will barely use live. I still find my analogue octave down pedals to be the best option of everything I have tried.

I think getting the types of sounds I am talking about with the Enzo would turn it into a must own pedal for guys like myself who love classic bass synth sounds.

Great, thanks for the feedback! If you can, please send me more links of sounds you are after. I designed the Enzo to be very flexible, with ring mod, delay, tons of filter topologies and more, so I am curious to see if I can better match the sounds you are looking for.

Sure! And thanks for doing this for us!

Bass in the beginning:

Bass around 12 seconds in (would be amazing to have a tone like this):

Of course, a classic - 17 seconds in:

Great thread!

Very similar price bracket to the Future Impact, so I think a lot of synth bass fans are going to end up going for one or the other (unless they have deep pockets!).

I've recently got a FI and it's brought a huge grin to my face; a comment my guitarist made "that's great and not easy to tell that apart from a keyboard synth" said it all. I also love the 99 presets which make the FI such a useful live device.

The Enzo does look really good, but nothing I've seen / heard / read above has made me think I made the wrong choice in getting a FI.

Thanks for those, it does sound like it’s very versatile.

If you get chance, could you please post some demos of the pedal on bass using the “triggered envelope” mode with a fast attack and fast decay using synth signal only, square wave, medium resonance on the low pass filter. Thanks.

I was just about to get me a FI when I stumbled upon this thread .. and immediately ordered one ....

Ok, thanks everyone for the suggestions! It is really helpful.

I made this clip which starts with square wave, medium resonance, and fast attack and decay. From there I mess with the knobs as I go (as well as eventually switch to sawtooth wave). And I also added a little bit from the other modes as well (Arp, Poly, Dry) just to give an idea how those react with bass as well.

Also, I bought the Akai Deep Impact when it was first released, and I absolutely love it. The more the merrier!
