Mesa 200 Buster club

Well, so far I have not been able to get the high end sheen of the Buster with the subway. However, since I'm playing mostly acid jazz, hip hop and funk these days. This is actually a good thing. I do still play in a power trio rock band, but I haven't tried the subway with that band yet. But they do seem to be different animals to me.

After some deliberation I decided to keep using the cab part of my Buster as a cab. I cut the top off and slapped a piece of Baltic Birch plywood (leftover from another project) on top. At some point I might cover it with some tolex, but it functions just fine as is. I'm left with the same sort of stack I had before rehousing the Buster, except that it's more modular, more stable, and much easier to move. Overall, I'm happy with how the project turned out.

That is a good little set up for small stages. I still stack two cabs to get cones up closer to the ears but the slant look to gets the cones directed at a good angle.

Bad news Buster-o-philes, I sold my wedge (and two basses) to the local GC to address some urgent needs a month or so ago. Fortunately I got decent $$ for them so that was good - but, I stopped by there yesterday afternoon to see if anything new showed up on their bass wall and the wedge was on the floor underneath some basses hanging on one of the walls. To my chagrin someone had poked a hole in the dust cap of the left speaker and pushed in the right driver cap! Argh!! None of the Markbass stuff is treated like that?!?!? I blame them. I'll see if my buddy there will let me know when they drop the price on it back down and go pick it back up - maybe in the spring. Makes me sick though, probably some toddler did it but who knows. It stinks to see someone do that to good gear; I'm sure there are a hundred stories of stuff like this at GC...

Those speakers are hard to come by, too. I hope you can get it back at a reasonable price.

So I have a line on a Buster 15 for a very good price. I was on my way to check it out last week and the guy said he fired it up and it was doing a lot of crackling and popping when playing and sitting idle so he would get back to me when he got it fixed. I am thinking about making him a lower offer and just getting it fixed myself. Do you guys think it is probably just a bad tube that is causing the noise issue?

Sounds like a bad tube symptom. I had a similar crackle pop issue and Mesa Hollywood looked at it and decided new tubes were the answer. They were.

I'm considering leaving the Buster Club. I've got mine listed for a local deal in LA area (not ready to ship). Give it a look if anyone in SoCal is in need of a head.

Buster club bump!

Using the Mesa manuals rock setting, looking through the thread it seems its a popular setting.


Edit: Found it thanks. 3 Mesa 12AX7s and 6 Mesa 6L6 GC STR 440s, standard stuff but sounds so good.
So just for ***** n giggles.. which preamp tube to put in the V1 spot for a quicker breakup?

I can't remember which side they are on but it is not rocket science, you may need to pull the front or rear panel off to get to them but they should be pretty easy to change out. You may be able to find a schematic online to tell which one is V1.
