Mesa and the Classifieds Section

Barry you beat me to it.

I find it a real gift that industry professionals like Andy Field, Jeff Genzler, Jon Moody from GHS, Bruce Johnson, and more are willing to stick their head in here and offer advice and counsel to guys like me, and I can never thank them enough. These are all busy people who give of their time to help out who I'm sure have better things to do, so I really appreciate it, and have learned a lot from them.

Does it make me want to put Mesa, Genzler, GHS, etc., at the top of my lists? Damn straight it does, out of gratitude and respect. I've yet to hear any of them shill for their own products, not once.

No one was calling anyone a shill. Kind of rude of you to imply that.
That comment was not directed to you. It was in response to /\/\3phist0 in agreement with J Wilson as stated above. Sorry to have offended you.

Oh, I wasn't implying you don't get it.
It was my revelation that I didn't need to go to my "make it more complicated" corner :)

I decided to check it out without the 3-band EQ that originally drew me to it and that puts some people off about it.

The Baxendale EQ that is used in the amp with the damping and HPF alone offers a lot of tone options that I would have not noticed just using the 3- band mostly. Another thing that can change the character of the amp if you haven't played with it is, running the amp in 2 ohm load output with a 8 or 4 ohm speaker load. More character bringing out the power tube emulation, if a tube tone is your thing.

:)
I have 8ohm LDS cabinets. I don't wanna break stuff. I'm slightly religious about not going outside the "manufacturer's recommendations".

Overall tho', I have found a peace with it. Also in the 3rd year of this current band. Coming into my own as having a baseline structure for all songs now and deviation paths that don't stray but for me, keep things interesting and reactionary.

The playing closer to the neck joint has also been a tonal comfort move.

It is a feature of the amp and is recommend if you want it.

Going 2-ohms out of the amp into an 8-ohm cabinet brings less power to the speaker but allows the power tube emulation to happen at a lower volume output level.

It is the other way you don't want to do.
A 2-ohm speaker load while the amp is set to run at 8-ohms.

For more info on this check and ask over here if you haven't yet...

This is really well said and I couldn’t agree more. Having these very knowledgeable people give us their insight and opinions is to me one of the best things about TB. I have never felt they are just trying to “push product”, but I have gotten more detailed and useful info that has been really helpful to me. Now if I could just find an amp the sounds like my Demeter VTBP-201S with a 1000 watt power amp in a small 5 lb. package I will be all set!
