Mesa and the Classifieds Section

I've been using one for over a year now; a WD-800. Replacing my beloved Hartke LH1000.

There's definitely a learning curve and constant venue adjustment with the Mesa or, my tonal ear is becoming wiser as I pay more attention to such things. Tone is important but it is diminished by accompanying instruments so, a good amp to be heard is 1st, and the tones it produces matters second.

YMMV

Because we're fickle and very susceptible to GAS. I think MESA has sold a lot of the Subway amps so I would expect to see more of them available used as oppopsed to other brands that don't sell as much.

This is part of it.

I have noticed on Talkbass many Mesa enthusiast buy all 4 Subway 800 series then keep the one thay prefer and sell off rest also many buy and sell their way through all 4 one at a time.

So is this.

I love my Subway rig, but no matter how good something is, it isn't for everyone.

I mean, this could be said for any of the really popular brands… have you looked at the number of Sushi Box and Broughton Audio ads in the effects classifieds? Or how about Boss or MXR - do they count?

Why are there so many P basses for sale? I though they were alpha and omega of basses and everybody needs at least one.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
THAT is the reason, I'm sure. Every time I have THE Unicorn, I second guess myself. I end up taking it for granted. I guarantee that if I had a Fodera, or Sadowski it wouldn't be long until I started cruising the classified again.
GAS is truly a mental disorder. Also, there's "bass money" and real money. I could drop $2k on a bass with a casual attitude and a halfway thought out plan, but you bet i'll be spending an hour trying to find the best price on a $40 drill.

What you call "bass money" is pronounced "boutique hoodie money" by my darling wife. I don't feel so bad about my 6 or so basses when I look in her closet. So funny about the stinginess on small purchases but honestly one of the reasons I have bass money is because I cheap out elsewhere.

I think people get a little excited by the frequent posts from a Mesa employee (former employee? I dunno) and it's almost like Mesa has become the 'house brand' for TB. I like Mesa stuff just fine but sometimes the hype on here for it can be a bit much. Not at all saying the member isn't helpful or that Mesa stuff isn't great, I just think there's bit of psychology at play in regards to how much people build up the brand.
