Yeah, mine's always doing that.

It's how I know the plutonium core has gone super-critical...

But mostly it's a just sweet meek friendly little suitcase nuke that, as you all know, I have christened "Pet Dragon."

I must honestly say that after 44.5 years of bass playing, it is the best sounding amp I have had. I wanted another one to take on a surfin'/SUP reggae safari to Kailua in June, (incoming fearful 15/6/1), but it looks like I am going to behave a little more sanely (yeah, yeah, I know it's wrong :scowl:), but I found a great deal on Lomo's GK m800. It will fit in my carry-on gigbag—kinda. :D :hyper: :ninja: :cool:

It's not an M9, but take comfort in the fact that only you (and perhaps your drummer) will really care, and more importantly, that you helped me buy a superb instrument yesterday. It's the cycle of..........bass......or maybe Talkbass:p

What instrument? Not another MF5? Valenti? fEARful 1515/66?

I have only been playing for 27 or so years, but I am with you. The M9 is a better sounding amp to me than anything else I have owned (and I have had many amps).

I just bought a GK MB Fusion from another TBer last night, so I think I am set for amps without buying just to accumulate gear......

The M9 for gigs, the GK for rehersal and a few gigs and my Hiwatt DR103... when I feel like it just because I can.

Now Mesa will release a 2000w M20 and we will all be screwed!

A MF 5. It's a real lesson for me in terms of obsessing about details and failing to see the big pic. While I'm waiting (Michel was serving someone else), I pull this thing off the wall and plug into the "house" system (Eden WT550 and 410 cab) at low volume......and the bass just melted into me. Amazing. It sounded glorious and fit me like a glove. A couple of other customers complimented me on the tone and my noodling (they must be hard of hearing 'cause the tone was great, but the only chops I have go from grill to plate to mouth:D).

After pretty much surrendering and asking the price, I realize it's 35" scale. Keep in mind I have only played 34" for a few years now, and even paid upcharges on some basses to keep it all consistent at 34". It certainly feels bigger, but after 30 seconds, my brain and hands seem to switch modes and it's all good. Now I understand those who play multiple axes with different specs. Maybe, as a hack hobbyist, it just took me 10 years of stumbling along to get here, who knows....


Anyway-to return to the thread, I can't wait to plug this baby into my M9/ LDS 15-6.......although it sings sweetly through my Walkabout combo fer sure.

It has been a few weeks since I bought a year old M9 and 4x10 vintage powerhouse cab.

Here are my thoughts - WOW, and also, WOW.

It is a wonderful setup and I am considering another 4x10 cab and going stereo - anyone have any thoughts on this?

...and how would accomplish this?

Since the M9 is monaural, you will need another one, or a two channel amp, like a Crest CA6, to amplify a "stereo signal" in stereo, but then, unless you have an instrument or pedal board with a stereo output signal, you would really still just be monaural, but in 2 identical channels.

However, two ph410s would kill with an M9. :eek: :hyper:

A quick pic of my M9 and PH 410 and 115 cabs before I sell my 410. Great cab, but the 115 is sooooooo loud with the M9, I don't expect to need more for small-med rooms. Also, I actually like my Sadowsky SA410 a bit better than the PH410.

In any case, I just got my M9 back from the small repair and it sounds completely amazing as usual. Apologies for my messy studio!

It all started when the drummer said "you need a second one on the other side of my kit - maybe go stereo". I couldn't agree more. He is so smart.

I do have a few other mesa cabs so maybe I can mix and match. I have a single 15 and double 15 and a ph1200 so we shall see. I like the idea of maybe the 2x15 on its side with the 4x10 on top. Oh the possibilities...thanks for the responses guys.

I agree it's a bad idea. According to the engineers on this site, the best way to project your sound across the stage to other band members is simply to have two vertically stacked identical cabs, and angle the top cab towards the other band members.
