Mesa/Boogie Official Club Thread...Part #2

I've been running two Diesel series 410's, one loaded with EVs and the other has Edens. They were extremely loud with the 400+, and I'm sure they will still be loud with the M2000. I can't wait for it to get here. I'll post fresh pics when it arrives.

I don't know... the M6 and 9s seem to be reasonably price to me and even their most expensive amps are less than the most expensive.

Mesa amps are hand made by real people who know what they're doing-and just a few of them-right here in the USA.
They're not mass assembled on lines by robots or people who don't have any idea what they're doing, in some other country.

Expect to pay a bit of a premium for this, and for them not to be Guitar Center sale items.

Did you read my post? :hmm:

I didn't say anything about build quality or who built it or how it was built. I understand that building a product here in the US by qualified people comes at a price, a price I am not willing to pay if I can get a better price on the used market.

I would say it isnt nearly as good a record as they have with their guitar amps.
I have been pretty disappointed with Mesa, who used to be the standard bearer for tube tech. The last 15 years they have whittled away at their tube amps until now, they have half a dozen hybrid amps and no all tube bass amps. It almost seems to me that the primary design criteria is that they have symmetrical front panels. Including a compressor does not make it ok.

Actually depending on the vendor (G.C. for example), almost all "real" companies are exempt from their "Sales". You just have to read the fine print.

And case and point, I've actually never received a "deal" at any major retailer on any top-tier brand, or what I'd consider not-Bugera/Behringer/Acoustic, etc.. People like to make a big fuss and get all huffy about Mesa's fixed pricing, but in reality everyone does it, and the "new" Ampeg stuff is so overpriced they have to "deal" on it to even move the gear. The last new import SVT-4Pro I saw @ GC had a $1699 tag on it!! "On sale" for $1499. Was hilarious.
Mesa price it right the first time. And admittedly, I can't always buy new either but like to when I can. It's a good thing some of you don't play guitar- you priced a new Diezel VH4 lately?? ;)

I did some research and found the M2000 is like a HA3500 on some serious performance enhancing drugs. Twice the power, compression that doesn't suck the tone dry, and two independent, blendable, and switchable preamp channels, and classic Mesa tube OD.

I agree with your assessment of the HA3500. That was my main gigging amp for awhile until I got my M-2000 and the EV-215 cabinet. Now it's just for backup or taking to "open mic" type jams where I don't want to chance having something happen to the Mesa. Both the M-2000 and the HA3500 have very useful compressors that do well at maintaining nearly all the playing nuance. The Mesa compressor though is super versatile. Independent compressors for both channels, blend-able between the two and you can really change the character a lot by altering not just the ratio and threshold, but the affected frequency range.

You'll have the same setup I do now and you're going to fall in love with the rich tones you'll be tweaking out of your rig (and there's a LOT of knobs to tweak). The M-2000 is a perfect match for those Diesels.

Picked it up off CL a few days ago and it is in mint condition. Not a tear or scuff to be found. Just needed the dust wiped off. Its my first tube amp and I'm pretty impressed with it. The Buster can get silly loud.

I'm jealous too. I saw that Buster stack on CL and wanted to buy, but alas, just too broke these days.

The next time we do a SF Bay Area GTG, you have to bring it!

IIRC, I saw it too, some months ago. If I'd been local, I'd surely have snagged it.
Shipping all that would have been coinage deluxe.
I bet it sounds glorious.
