Mesa Boogie, Part 3

Well I havent hooked them together yet (I've had the buster for almost a week), but I have read in a few places that the buster kills with a 2x15. I'll report someday if and when I use them together. The diesel RR2x15 is retired for now. I can't fit it in my current car, and I no longer want to shlep that badboy around. I just can't bring myself to get rid of it. It's such an awesome cab. It prob won't take long before I pair them together, and give it a go.....to tell you the truth, I'm kinda scared that I'll like them together too much, and curse myself back into hauling that thing around again.:hiding:

Thanks... I was asking because I run my Buster 200 through 2 Diesel 115s and it does truly sound killer. But sometimes I wonder what it would sound like through a 4x10. So, please... do go try your Buster sometime and write up a comparison.

:bassist: :D

Will do! If I had 2 1x15's I prob wouldnt ever use anything else. But being that I don't, I wanted to give a 4x10 try myself.

Here a pic from a regular gig... pedal board is somewhat different now though.

Heads up on a vintage ph412 $800 [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

PH412= best cab I've ever played through IMO.

I'm so happy I found mine locally, as I probably wouldn't have been down to spend the cash to get a new one, though they're well worth it! $800 for a mint one is a great price. I really like my PH610 but in all honesty, if another PH412 came up locally I'd probably sell the 610 and grab another 412.

You guys are all really making me want a Buster SO badly. They're such nice amps and I think they'd respond really well to a nice OD pedal. I picked up a beaten up Ampeg V4BH for a lower wattage amp compared to my 400 and it was a huge mistake. I'm having problem after problem, sinking more money into this amp then I ever thought I would..

Shoulda bought Mesa again :hiding: Wont make that mistake twice

The Buster does take to OD pedals quite well. What I like about it is the bass-line tone is clean, wet and 3d. Adding effects pedals sounds really good on the Buster. However, it has a Fender tone stack where flat is not where people think it is (Bass=3:00, Mid=dimmed and Treble=3:00), so a lot of people don't like the Buster cause maybe they never understood where flat is and couldn't get it dialed in.

I hear ya about the tone stack, though anyone that dumped this amp without giving the manual a solid read through or two is beyond crazy!

I had a line on a mint one locally for a while, and then the guy just stopped responding to my emails one day. Was ready to buy it, too, but I'm ready to get rid of this V4BH and pick up either one of the new Mesa models or find a Buster in nice shape. I love my Mesa gear!

How do you guys find the Buster reacts to Active VS Passive basses? I find that this V4BH really works well with my Passive fender but with my Actives I need to do a lot of tweaking to get my tone set right.

I only have passive basses

What (clockwise) settings do you usually use? I'm still learning the tone stack on mine.
