Mesa/Boogie Titan V12 megathread!

Shoot Mesa an email - their response time is usually fantastic, and they will definitely be able to tell you if it will work or not.

I'm currently comparing the V12 against my SVT 4 pro. You guys might think I'm crazy but to me the V12 does not bury the ST 4 Pro at all!!!
The SVT 4 Pro is actually way more massive in the lows, and remains quick and clean. I feel the V12 is actually pretty shy compared to the Ampeg when hitting the B string.
I'm tweaking the V12 EQ all the way to convince me I'm missing something, but every time I plug my bass back in the Ampeg, it's night and day.
The V12 is lighter and has way more features. But tonewise, the SVT4 is way more massive, clean, quick, dynamic and more headroom and warmer!

That is surprising to hear. I had a SVT 4 pro, EBS TD 650, Aguilar DB750 and Titan and felt that the svt4 was the weakest lead sled I’ve played, the 750 and Titan crushed it as far as volume and weight behind the notes. I do remember though that there are some magical pairings of cabs with the 4pro. Bergantino HT cabs sounded unreal with the 4pro and remain one of my favorite rigs. Same goes for the Titan and Aguilar DB cabs. I kept the Titan because it was more versatile, much more going on in each note and it really made my 810 and 412 reach their full potential, even at lower volumes.

To each their own though, if the 4pro works for you and inspires you to play I’d say keep the 4 pro.

Maybe I need to change the tubes? I had the same experience with an M-Pulse 600. And changing tubes made it sound better actually. It could go deeeper. So Im going to do that with Titan. Mainly because I really want to fully enjoy this great amp. So no smart asses here I'm opened to any advices ;-) For the momentI feel like the amp is stuck in a real low mid, high mid tone. Where the ampeg goes from massive lows to super clean highs. Any advices on the tubes to use?

If you have some time, gig the Titan before you buy new tubes. When you a/b amps by yourself you can hear lots of things going on but in a band situation lots of things get lost in the mix. I think of the Titan like a Sadowsky bass, you don't really know how special they are until your on stage. JMO though.

Well...... After comparing both and really digging the Titan tone. Something is happening I think. I'm planning on selling my 8 years trusted SVT 4 Pro. Pretty amazing to me.
Even if I could dial a Titan tone out of my SVT4, I put many things in question. The weight, the SVT4 is heavier and the need of a bi-amp head.
I think I'm definitely a new Titan converted bassist ;)

Hi, got a titan second hand about six months ago.love the tone, love the headroom and love it all. Sadly, today one capacitor bursted :( at first sight, it is a small capacitor, 250v 47 pf, not one of the rectifier ones.
Anyone had the same experience? I am changing it myself, it doesnt look hard tomreplace.many advice?

To me, both amps sound awesome, both with their own characteristics. The SVT4 Pro is still a great head to me.
But it's way closer to the M9. The M9 and the SVT 4 Pro are very very close I think.
But both can't compete against the Titan int terms of power and features. I own three heads and it's a bit overkill. One has to go. Still deciding between the SVT4 and the M9.
I don't use the bi-amp feature of the SVT 4, and it weights way more than the M9. So..... I might have made my choice ;)

Ok, so you are not in the US? Without profile info it's difficult to get you good into. Yes, your country's distributor is responsible for supporting your product.

Rarely is a capacitor (especially the part you mentioned) the sole part in a failure. Unless you are a qualified service tech, I encourage you to seek proper service from your authorized service center.
