Mesa/Boogie Titan V12 megathread!

The first time was less than one year and was still under warranty replaced me a 2 mosfet and nothing else.
the second time it happened after the warranty had expired the same thing the two mosfet replaced by their sheltered mie.I mosfet expenses which mounts here in Italy are virtually impossible to find (mosfets are Semelab and are located in the US or in the UK ) .Now I have heating problems practically tested this is a tragedy if I have to advise someone would never do that although it has a great sound.

No, never tried to 2 ohms and I think the worst is just the thing because the mosfet working with a higher voltage so as riscaldamento.Si I have my coach who in the past has already placed the mosfet I would just figure out what needs to change because here someone sent her to the mesa

Are you having your amp serviced by the authorized service center in Italy, or just some service person who might not be qualified to repair your amp?

now my head and out of warranty and the nearest center is at 1000 km from my house
and basically they take the head and send in californi with a cost of traveling and repair that safely exceeds the 800 euro.
Turning on the forums I read that the first version of the one like mine has heating problems and mesa has made changes by adding a piercing fan the houses and replacing the alimentatore.Io have my qualified technician would just like to know that transformer used and which fan

If I was you I would start by adding a fan on the side of the amp that would blow air inside or outside the amp. Just to see if that improves things.
I think about doing this on mine. Even if I haven't had any issues yet, but I feel concerned about these overheating issues.

There is a great company called Melison in Paris, France. They are ceauthorised by many brands including Mesa. Maybe that would avoid a shipment to the US:

There's a whole lot more than that. You are not understanding everything that is involved.

Hi to all of you!

I am a Titan owner for the last 7 years or so and I had problems with the amp in the past.
I have a revision 1 which had some design fails and it broke in 2012. I've sent it to repairs to California (I live in Europe, Slovenia) and they repaired it.
The amp section (MOSFETS) and ventilation was upgraded.
This summer the amp broke again and tomorrow I'm sending it back to California once again.

Don't try to repair it anywhere else. I've tried it and it wasn't a good idea -> This amp is too complicated to repair and there are no schematics available online.

Try to contact main service guy - Mr. Richard Duvall ( [email protected] ) with the description of your proglem.

In my situation / problem nothing but shipping, which is around 300€ (euros). As i've spoken with guys at Mesa, the failure happened due to some design fail (overheating etc.) which was fixed in later revisions.

I drive my Mesa really hard - I tour on big stages using 8x10 cab really really loud ... and in some ocasions I play at hot stages (summer festivals). If the amp isn't properly cooled it can fail pretty quick.

I have to cranck mine to see if it holds fine. What's the serial number of yours?
Once it has failed, do you have to wait for it to cool down to use it again?

No, mine was broke in a different way. When I switched it on and turned it up and played itm it distorted after 2 seconds of playing and then faded out in another 2 seconds and then it would switch itself into some kind of standby / power failure mode.

The second fail was similiar but now it turns on, but there is no sound at all.

I would suggest that you contact Richard and ask where to put the fan (i believe you should also drill some holes into the metal housing). But please, don't hesitate to contact the guy, he will tell you if you should do something or not.

My serial is 434 - what's yours?

I just wanted to edit the post... Really contact them first. As I remember they did some more upgrades.

I've searched thru my email... This were my problems :

Your main problem was a shorted MOSFET (output) transistor. We also performed several updates for future reliability.

COMPLAINT: Distorted, turns off after 10 secs, one FET failed, DI Level pot doesn't work (a tech "messed" with the DI IC, now there is "+7V at the DI"; Protect circuit keeps "clicking in"

REPAIRS: Replaced shorted N-channel MOSFET (main problem); updated as needed; recalibrated; repaired DI circuit board trace (to fix DI problem); benched, burned, played.

The tubes were NOT replaced (which means the tech saw no reason to replace them). I don’t recommend that you replace them unless there is a reason. Preamp tube selection is not always as simple as just slapping new ones in there - an “old” one can be great, and a “new” one can be noisy. You can try it if you want, but I would mark, and keep, the old ones.
