Mesa/Boogie Titan V12 megathread!

Color only as far as I can tell...Peace...DAcat

i know one model has an extra fan but cannot find that information anywhere! i believe it is the black one that runs cooler due to the extra fan inside but i am not sure!

can someone please confirm me this?

also, can the titan be used with an 8 ohm hartke cabinet (with the most common "jack" connection??).. i know the titan has the speakon plug in the back, not sure about the jack plug..

I've been using a Big Block 750 for a couple months now, love the sound and particularly love the look in the Mesa headcase. Badass! Locally there was a 1 year old Titan available at a good price so I had to pick it up. No headcase (anyone want to sell me theirs?) but I love the amp. I currently play in a fairly straight forward rock band so the available tones directly from the amp are perfect as I won't need any pedals for overdrive and fuzz sounds.

You can hear the Big Block 750 recorded post EQ DI in the Mumu Tutu recordings in my sig.

CLICK HERE to hear some clips I did of the Titan post EQ DI. I'm still tweaking the EQ on both channels slightly, but in general I don't really run too far off flat with the exception of the fuzz tone in Channel 2.

All recorded with a Lakland Duck Dunn and LaBella flats using a pick.

I've heard that here on TB. However, I have an early black face Titan and mine only has the single fan. It gets hot when played loud for long periods, but I have had no problems with overheating... or anything at all, for that matter..... knocking on wood(a beautiful natural ash on my Lakland JO:cool:)

i just asked for the black one a few minutes ago in my local dealer.... i thought the silver was the first and the black came to replace it...

ha, thanks.. so it will work with a 8 ohm cabinet no problems right?

Yes, it will.

And anyone who wants to get the additional cooling mods done can probably just contact Mesa customer service. Mine is an earlier blackface model, and I'll probably send it in for the cooling mods.

i read somewhere about rack mount cooling... maybe that is an option too.

although i have never seen rack mount cooling.. maybe someone can show this?

tombowlus, how can you tell your model only has one fan inside?

Hey T,
any idea how much Mesa would charge for this upgrade?
If you find out, please let us/me know.

Has anyone actually had overheating problems with their single-fan Titan's? Obviously, it must be a concern for Mesa or they wouldn't have modded the amp. I've never experienced any, though.

I am not sure, but if I find out, I will report back.

Yeah, see, here's why I might not even bother with the "upgrade." I've gigged my Titan about as hard as I am going to, and it was not having any overheating issues at all. So I may not even need the additional cooling.

Tom.

how many ohm's do you usually run it? maybe it runs OK at 4 ohm and the heat only appears at 2 ohm.. of course this is only speculation of mine!
