From what I understand it is simply a build cost versus demand issue. No announcements as far as a direct or parallel replacement have been made.

Although, knowing Randall Smith and the boys at Boogie, it would not surprise me if something new came along.

Again, they aren't discontinued yet, but they are no longer going to be ordering new chassis/parts/etc for the V12, so after they use up what they have (which could take months, or longer, or they may have 5 left, who knows?) they will be no more.

ONE HOT AMP :smug: !! Mine is the silver model that I got used a few monthes ago, and it evidently had overheating problems with the previous user, and was sent in for the Mesa Modifications and upgrades just before I bought it. When I got it it was in a tight fitting 3 space rack case and it started to over heat on me once after I got it as well and its never been in that rack case again, and also never had any problem with over heating again either. I play mine at 4 and 2 ohms. I think it was at a 2 ohm load when it started to overheat FYI :confused:?? But I'm pretty sure that the problem was the tight fitting rack case (Maybe Mesa will chime in). I think that the Titan needs at least 1 free rack space above for it to have free air circulation. In the manual Mesa warns heavily about maintaining adequate circulation and not blocking airflow or it will over heat!! I think this is a minor problem for a very powerful amp, and not much of a concession and it is such a fantastic amplifier that I am totally gasless for amps. I can't wait to play mine :bassist: every day! And I am still dicovering new tonal variations to use with my fretted MTD Z4 Bass and recently acquired Spector Spectorcore semi-Hollowbody Fretless ...sweet :D !! Peace...DAcat :cool:

well DAcat, great to know you like your amp.. the bad news is that i probably cannot find the black faced model over here anymore (not quite, i can still buy one if i wait for 9 more months)... i am torn between buying the silver and risk overheat.. in my case, it would only run in 4 ohm but... it is an expensive but!!!! i never liked these overheating problems!

tomorrow i might have confirmation if another dealer can get me a black faced titan.. lets hope he can!

Well...again...the overheating problem may be caused by putting it in too small a rack space, ...or Mesa may upgrade it for you if its a problem if you get a silver one...Peace...DAcat :cool:

that would be too expensive.. i live in Portugal, this amp will cost me 2100 euros with customer discount and prompt payment.. sending it back would increase even more its price.. but thanks for the suggestion mate.

and yes, it will go into a rack.. i am already studying cooling solutions like rackmount fans just in case i have a problematic unit.. lets hope i can buy a black faced model and save me from these problems.

there ya go-if you get an older model and don't want to send it in-and are a do it your-selfer...just take off the lid and drill a bunch of holes in it...if you want the exact number I can count them for you...:D Peace...DAcat :cool:

the dealer confirmed me he does only have a silver model and the importer will not import the black ones. ever.

he offered a 50% discount on the silver model. i have not seen it yet so i do not know if this silver model has the vented lid or not. tomorrow will look at it and decide what to do.. but 50% off for a brand new in box titan is a huge discount!
