MESA/BOOGIE TT-800 Questions

Mine hasn't 'missed a beat', I use 4hrs a week at rehearsals, and we are currently gigging 2 out of 3 weekends.
Small clubs, bigger clubs, outdoor with and without PA support..
With right speaker combos, I pull a monster sound..at all of the above.
Best Bass amp iv owned, although iv only had 5 ', 4 good pro amps, an ampeg, a Dglass, 2 agi's. .and now the TT.(.iv played 6str guitar most my life.)

You realize doing that will bypass incredible Boogie preamp and heart of tone for tt 800? Mesa will be power amp only

If you put external preamp between Bass and TT800 Input you can still use Boogie Channel Preamp

You can also loop preamp in both send and return and turn on external preamp only when needed but @agedhorse should be able to advise which is better or if I know what I am talking about :)

If the external preamp won’t work with a line level input (many don’t) then that method of placing it in the loop is a non-starter.

Re-read the owner’s manual section on how the effects loops work.

You can always run into the front input, but beware that some external preamps can have heavy voicings that may not work well with the preamps on other bass amps.

Again, I would encourage you to try anything you think of. If it sounds great to you, ..then it is. Iv had the occasional TB member of 'the fashion police ', saying 'u can't do that' , or ' not those sneakers with those jeans'.
So long as u have an understanding of gain staging (that being the only dangerous thing), try what u will.
For the first few gigs I ran my ' usual ' settings , pre amps driven, now I run both pre's fairly low, input switch low, and push the output stage, getting any dirt added by pedals before all.
Originally it sounded really good, now it sounds epic..
Iv never ran any amp like that..

Right. I was planning on doing something similar anyway. Again, I absolutely LOVE how this amp sounds. Easily the greatest amp ive ever played through! I just wanted to run a preamp that will give me a more aggressive drive for heavier music and what not. Rex Brown comes to mind.

What I really cant believe is how nice my 5 string sounds now! I like to run it through the subway channel with more of a mid scooped eq with the deep and bright switches on. It sounded fine through my ampeg but this TT takes it to a whole other level.

I have a lot of drive pedals (9!), but the Origin effects dcx bass is my current favourite for the Boogie channel (set medium gain) I keep flipping between 2 DGs, B7k( heavy) or AO(set mild) for the subway channel . IMHO all drives iv tried sounded good into the TT. That was not true for my previous 4 amps.

Im thinking of a few at the moment. Either the regular sansamp bddi v2 or the vt bass are in the lead right now haha. The Origin Effects Bassrig pedal is sick but its $500! 🤣. I was looking at the b7k for the subway too 👀

Ok I've got a question here that's come up.
I've got the TT set up sitting on a Schroeder 1210. I'm getting a very distorted signal even with the gain down around 10 o'clock. Either channel.
I've got an Eden WT405 on top of an Ampeg PR410HLF next to it.
I've mixed and matched everything, and the Schroeder is quite distorted, especially with the Mesa TT-800. There may be a simple reason for that, but it's distressing anyway...
I'm bringing the Mesa and the Schro' to rehearsal tomorrow.
It's got me a little wound.

It's been a weird phenomenon that sometimes bass amp speakers sound distorted in my basement. But the Ampeg PR410HLF doesn't do this- only slightly- nearly as much as the Schroeder. The Schroeder is very pronounced.
A friend once told me it's rf interference. If so, is it affecting the amplifier?
The Eden amp sounds distorted also, but not as much as the Mesa.
