Three minutes! That's gotta be close to a record, Poon! Thanks!

. . . I also feel like a bit of an idiot - guess I should have checked the Mesa site first

The link doesn't have a picture - so just to be sure - this one will fit the head when it's in the big rhino case?

Yeah, I believe so. It's the one I'm thinking of getting too. My only gripe with it, is that it isn't padded. I suppose that's what the case is for to protect the head, but it would be nice with more padding. Like a tuki cover or studio slip. These are like slip covers, IIRC. If it makes you feel any better, I'm probably going to jump the gun on this too and I didn't think mesa would sell one directly either.

Yeah a PADDED cover'd be even nicer, But as minecame with a cover I'm cool with what I got.

Mine's a 8ohm 12" WA scout combo. DAMN it's nice!!! Used it with the Berg AE112 under it last weekend!!!
WOW!!!!!!

Using my RH Sig. Jazz w/ D'addario Chromes- & using the bridge JAZZ pup & just a TOUCH of the neck P pup, was able to get a great Ric tone!!!

When I did sound check for this gig, I'd forgotten to turn the VOL & Gain down to 'off' pos. & when I turned it on (with the AE112 connected) the Master vol was on about 1.30 o'clock & gain was on about 12 oclock & I played a note on the bass & it damn near "tore the roof off the sucker" ;-) damn it was a HUGE sound!
Looking forward to trying the amp out (outta it's combo format) thru the NV215!!!!! :hyper:

So my used (barely) "rhino" case arrived late last week . . . put the head in Friday and it looks great!

. . . one question - and maybe I'm just being overly anal here - does anyone use something extra (e.g. slip-on cover or some sort of removable face-plate thing) to protect the exposed amp face during loading and unloading at a gig?

I did a quick Google search and found the following company that will make a custom slip-cover

Link Removed

but just wondering if anyone has an off-the-shelf solution . . .
Try "Tuki Covers". They make padded covers that are really tough.

did they say what was done to it in terms of repair required?

No, they didn't: I happened to be driving when they called on the cell so they left a message. I hope there'll be an invoice with it when it arrives. In the meantime, this afternoon may be my last rehearsal with Mr Bassman.

I was at the local music shop the other day, and a salesman there who plays bass asked me "what's so special about the M/B?" (not, I hasten to add, in an ugly way -- he's a Peavey man). I said, "any bass amp will reproduce bass frequency notes, but this is the only one I've had that sings them instead of talking."

I have two and had hum issues trying to use them together. When I asked MESA about using both simultaneously they strongly recommended against it. I suppose with a buffered splitter it could be done. Probably also be a good idea to be sure that there were no ground or polarity issues. Now I use both combos for a practice amp.....one with the head and the other just using the speaker. The other head is a backup for my RH450. I haven't decided whether I like the RH450 or the Walkabout head better for my stage rig (through an SWR 2x15)....both sound really nice.

Guess this needs to go to the front again: I got a UPS automated call that the Mesa/Boogie head will be delivered today and requires a signature. I'll look at the invoice and learn what was done to it.

I'll not regret moving from the Bassman 400. I could never dial it in to get even close to the sound of the Walkabout, despite twenty gazillion knobs and switches on the front panel. And I discovered that too many buttons is not good: I inadvertently left the "active/passive" switch in, which entertained me by intermittently going between the padded input and unpadded, giving me rather more dynamics than I required.

Of course, otherwise, it's a fine amp, differing only from the M/B in excessive weight, harsh tone, ugly appearance and "rubber-band" attack on the notes. I may think of some others if I concentrate.:D

I tried out one of these in a music shop and it had the updated fan. But, I may buy one without this 'fix' and I was curious, because I've never heard it, if the fan is THAT loud. I've heard numerous times about how it is annoying but haven't heard it first hand. So could you guys explain to me how loud this really is before I get into this?

Thanks

as far as i know, there is no updated fan, and they're still using the same sunon unit they always have.
at least, that's what's in my newer blackfaced version; which is now 6 months old or so.

Should be only 1 fan. Louder than most, but it only bothered me for 5 minutes when I 1st plugged it in. Now it's not even a nuisance when I practice quietly alone.
