Mesa Boogie Walkabout Part 5!!!

This is REALLY starting to piss me off. I heard from Avatar that the driver I sent them was fine, and assumed my head had clipped. They were really nice and told me to just keep the new replacement they sent anyway and they'd keep the supposed dud I sent them for Dave's home use. So I head to the jam/laundry room and install the new driver......try it with a different head (the SL900) and another bass.....and now it's even worse. Very abnormal sounds coming outta that woofer. So maybe it's the %&*&ing xover??? Now I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and send the whole box back:crying::crying::crying:

So it was not the Walkabout after all. My head hurts:rolleyes:

This is really good news...really.
Maybe Dave could send you a crossover before you ship the unit back?

(playing with my new MB-F and two 112's...the MB-F is pretty cool, but certainly different than the WA)

Naw-it's just tiring, LOL. The WA already sold and I will honor that, regardless, I went back and double-checked for loose bracing, etc and found zip. She's going back to dem dat made her.

Please keep us posted as to the outcome; I had high hopes that a WA that was working properly would drive a 4 ohm 15/6 to a reasonable level.
I don't have any loud gigs coming up but do feel that my 100lb Berg would get the job done.
I completely understand the frustration factor although it would be interesting to pull the leads on the mid driver and tweeter so you could hear just the 15, especially if you have to pay for shipping for the cabinet.

It IS loud enough through the 4 Ohm TB153. I already proved that to myself before the cab failed. The singer/rhythm guitarist actually asked me to turn down :p No doubt in my mind whatsoever.

Well, I honored my sale of the Walkabout, but I'll snag a used one after my Avatar TB153 cab gets sorted out ( I think that cab in 4 Ohm has been my favorite match for the WA). And here is a list of the boxes I have tried under my WA in order of my preference:
Avatar TB153 (4 Ohm)
Pair of EA Wizzy 12s
Pair of Scout 12s
Pair of Epi UL210s
Epi UL210/310 stack
Scout 15
pair of Mesa PH 112s
.....quite the journey.......
