I suppose it would, but I get plenty of volume outta my W A with either 4 ohm, multi-driver cabs, or just add another 4 ohm cab to run it at 2 ohm.

Mesa Boogie Walkabout Part 5!!!

My last couple of gigs have started to test the boundaries a little so I thought a F1 could be a handy thing to have in the back pack.
I don't think it works that way.
Part of the Walkabout mojo is the tube that drives the mosfets. fx send is before that, I believe.

The D.I. out could work though and it uses the output driver tube. You'd need an XLR to 1/4 cable though.... What's the F1 put out? The single 12 in the scout can't handle what the WA already sends it and with a 2 Ohm total load the WA puts out almost 500W.
F1 = 500 watts. I have a 4Ω cab config. (2 x 8). So I get 300W from my WA. I was thinking the DI output would essentially give me a WA with D class power section.
There are a couple of other contenders - including the MB500 or GB Shuttle. Same ICE module I believe(??). Could be worth trying through your Fusion if you have the right lead Chef?

The Walkabout is plenty loud for everything I do, really.
I did a big outdoor thing tonight; LDS 4x8 under and LDS 2x8, and I barely had the Walkabout powered on: input gain at noon, master at about 9 oclock.
FWIW, we did basic tracks for a new CD today, and I used the Walkabout as DI to the board.
Only the bass and drums will stay, scratch vocals and rthym guitar will all be replaced, and everyone else layered in later. I dont know when I'd have dailys, and don't really have anywhere to post them, but, the Walkabout and the Nord powered Lakland P5 sounded massive.

I would have thought this would be the obvious way to get Walkabout chewy goodness and that cool EQ through a louder package.
YES ...close anyway. I ran the line out from the WA into my LMII and used the power section of the LMII. It was totally cool.
We all have our faves. Mine are:
Best loud single cab (esp for the price): Avatar TB153 in 4 Ohm
Best sounding tone : Audiokinesis TC112 (get a pair if you dare and have the coin).
Hon mention to GK Neo2-112 and EA wizzy 112 (I like 12s in pairs
Mine are mostly Bergantinos. Like the AE212. But fave by far is the 4 ohm NV215, just lovely with the WA

I think a Walkabout and an AccuGroove cabinet or two are a sonic match made in heaven!

I would live to hear one through an Accugroove and those LDS 2x8 and 4x8 cabs that Chef has.
I have yet to try it with my Epifani PS cabs but want to see how it sounds.

As far as using the Walkabout pre into another power amp, I have tried via the FX send into both a Mesa Carbine and a Mesa D-180. The D-180 sounded amazing with the Walkabout front end (which is no surprise given the D-180 has a tube power amp), but the WA into the Carbine didn't sound like the Walkabout to me- it was REALLY loud though! On the other hand, the Carbine sounded better to me as a pre going into the Walkabout power amp, so I believe there is indeed some mojo happening post-FX loop. My favorite combination of all was actually the Carbine preamp into the D-180 power amp- something about that modern pre signal rounded out by the power tubes was just delicious sounding!
Assuming the DI out would work (which would be cool because you would still be able to use the Walkabout power amp at the same time and with a seperate level control via the DI Level knob)- I also doubt you would gain a whole lot of extra headroom with any of the 500 watt Markbass amps- probably not enough to make it worthwhile anyway. A Genz Benz Streamliner 900 might be a better choice (and is actually something I have been considering trying out sometime myself), though calso more expensive...

The times I've used my Walkabout into the Berg NV215,I used a Fender P with flats.
I thought it was the nicest 'vintage' tones I'd ever had. That was backed up by our keys player-who's been playing since the very early '70's. He said it was the best bass tone he'd ever heard too.
