Mine is scheduled to arrive Monday. Day before rehearsal. Fingers crossed.
I'm hoping for a Plus version. Lack of sweepable mids is the only thing keeping the Mesa from replacing my Tone Hammer.
I wasn't so excited about the D800 when it came out, but the Mesa tone has always been my favorite. I was hoping for a preamp pedal, and now it's here. Yay! Of course, now I wish there was a rackmount version, but I could see putting this on top of my cab. Either way I'd like to be able to make adjustments without having to bend over.
Did anyone else notice on their website under specifications it said "800 watts class D power"? Hehe.
(Yeah, I'm sure it's a copy and paste error)
If I replace my Eden WTDI with this, I guess I'll need a compressor... hmm. The mental pedal shuffling begins!

Sweepable mids would be great, but if this thing just gets the variable HPF, I could see my wallet opening...if it gets both, I can envision the cash actually jumping out...
I love Preamp pedals but always find myself going back to my BDDI. I'd love to try this Mesa though. I probably would have held on to my Ampeg SCR-DI if they cut off the scrambler section to cut down on the footprint.
I actually have a Mesa D-800 that I will never get rid of; I might trade upto the D-800+, but the sound of the amp has me convinced the get the DI pedal.
Will running this preamp through the effects return of another class d amp (streamliner 900) make the tone different from a regular d800? I know might be a silly question...
I know from experience running through the Prodigy will be different because of the power tubes. I'm assuming class D power sections would all sound the same, but...
No doubt. I love my Prodigy but often run various preamp pedals through the effects return. My current favorite is the Pike Vulcan XL, amazing tones when paired with the Prodigy's power section.
I received mine today. Awesome looking and well built pedal! I didn't have any time to play with it before rehearsal. I had to unbox it and dial it in on the fly at rehearsal (hate doing that with new gear). I kept all the knobs at noon with the input around 3 and voicing at flat and around 10. I like it so far! Seems to cut through effortlessly. I need more time alone to try some different basses with it and turn some knobs. One thing I did learn fast that a little turn of any knob does alot.
I have several questions about various aspects of the controls and the different output options and their effect on tone. Hopefully I can answer most of that after a couple hours of playing around with it.

Loving that you said it reminds you of Prodigy. I sorely miss mine...

Today after work I'm going to go home, and instead of just turning knobs to find a good tone, I'm gona run the Mesa Preamp/Di through the effects return on my D-180 and AB it with my favorite D-180 preamp tone until I can come as close as possible to a dead match. Whew, that was a sentence.
That was my whole reason for wanting a pedal like this from Mesa...So I can come very close to capturing my favorite tone in a 1lb portable package and save the D-180 (and my back) for special gig occasions. So I'm gona cut right to the chase and try and match it!
Pics and hopefully D-180 settings to follow!
Edit: I should clarify, I'm not referring to the awesomely ultra-distorted tones the D-180 is also known for. I know those tones aren't possible with this pedal alone. I'm referring to the moderately overdriven, large-and-in-charge, growly yet very musical tones I get with the EQ engaged.
