Master at 5, input a 3...
It's got headroom for days like that; but, I tend to play pretty soft with my right hand, run the bass wide open, and use right hand technique for all dynamics.
Guess what I'm sayin is "if yer a pick player, or someone who lays into the strings hard, all the time" you'll need less than that.
I mean, with the Walkabout 12-which is already pretty efficient, and pretty beefy-then add (in the case of the Schoreder for example) another 12, another 10, both in another highly efficient cab...it's a killing machine. Freakin loud. Big. Phat. Niiice.

I tried the WS combo a coupla times at the store and couldn't believe it. I also tried it side by side with the MB 1x12 combo...which I think has the same basic head as the LMII?
The little Mark Bass combo put out a solid low end, but nothing like the Mesa. So far so good with mine. However, I haven't had too many of the types of gigs I want to try it on this month...more later.

I don't know about MB combo's, but the LMII head with Bergantino HT/EX112 cabs is the stuff magic is made of! Quite a huge sounding mini rig. That said, again, the Mesa Walkabout Scout has a tone, sound, vibe and presence the LMII doesn't quite match. But without comparing side-by-side, I don't think you'd miss or be left wanting if you had the LMII head with a great cab or a pair of cabs.

One thing I really like about the Scout:
Crank the Master, leave the input low, and it's relatively clean, fast and thick.
Push the master down, crank the input up, and let the tubes speak if you like.

I've tried the walkabout scout combo about three times at my local music store. Naturally, the head was in the cab. How much does the tone of the cab contribute to the tone of what I was hearing? If I pick one up I dont want the cab because I already have two good cabs. Plus, the cab has leather corners and a leather handle. As a vegan I dont buy things with leather. Not a big deal. Just aint happening.

I own the Walkabout and bought the Scout Cabinet 6 months later. So I've used it both as a combo, and as a separate amp head driving a Bergantino HT112/EX112 stack. The tone and over all sound of the head remains. The Scout cabinet does offer a very cool tonal vibe, but I get the great Walkabout tonal character using it to drive other cabinets.
I did an interesting experiment the other day. I used the Walkabout effects send into the power section of a MarkBass LMII amp. The LMII was feeding my Bergantino HT/EX112 stack. That was amazing! The power section of the LMII is 500W@4ohms, so it drives the stack with more headroom. But again, the tonal character of the Walkabout remained.

It sounded particulary good driving a custom made high end 3 way cabinet with a 15". a 10" and a horn. Even though it was an 8 ohm cabinet I had lots of volume and plenty of headroom.
I also used the combo with a Yorkville 1X15 extension and found the sound coming out of the 15 to have the same overall character as the Scout cabinet.

I sure do. And considering that most single 12 or 15 cabinets can't handle much more than 150 watts of anything in the low frequencies, despite their advertised power ratings, and the fact that most of the cabinets are fairly high efficiency, 300 watts is plenty for most gigs. That's getting up to stupid loud levels with most cabinets.
By the way, I recently fried a 400 watt cast frame Eminence 15 mounted in a Yorkville enclosure running the Walkabout at 8 ohms at fairly low volume. Just a little too much low boost and poof, it was gone.
Good points Smash. There is one on Ebay from Calgary for $600usd I'm thinking of bidding on. I dont know, maybe I should just keep my Eden WT405. Thing is I quite like the tone of the walkabout so... I would be using the walkabout with the quite efficient UL310.
Yeah, new drummer. He's quite good. He's legally blind so it makes it a little tougher in terms of transportation etc but so far we think he's worth it. The only thing about those recordings that's new is that I'm new to the line-up. This new drummer used to be in the band leaders old band "Hot Tin Rufus" when these recordings were made.

Vegan, I use the WalkAbout with a 410UL and it sounds really nice, although I actually prefer using my 2 Avatar 210s with this head for a more old-school sound. Wouldn't want to use the tweet though.
Yeah, $700 is a good deal for both the head and a seperate cab. Not sure, what cab that is, but guessing by the grill design it might be an ampeg.

The cab is Mesa, looks to be a 1x15 to me...
I've used my head with all my different cabs (see profile) and it hasn't met one "it doesn't like" yet.
The head, in terms of power, covers anything my Thunderfunk would...

Question for you rackmount Walkabout users...
Which rack do you use, and does it allow for sufficient cooling?
I plan on putting my Walkabout head in the classic Mesa rhino enclosure in a couple months, but in the mean time, I'd like to keep the head protected in a rack. Any suggestions are appreciated!
