It would seem that the prices are fixed at a ridiuclously high price on this side of the pond, for the price here of a Walkabout extension cab you can get the full combo in the US, now where is the special expertise that Mesa quoted in repairing an extension cab?

Sure. The Walkabout Scout 12" is around 1800€ (2600$). I recently bought the Walkabout head for 1300€ (1900$). I know... ridiculous... but it sounds awesome!

Wouldn't it be much cheaper for Europeans to buy Mesa cabs in the US? I know for example that US-dealers are not allowed to ship Music Man basses to other countries, but what about Mesa gear?

You cannot convert the voltage on the Walkabout head, just part of Mesas way of keeping the price artificialy high. The cabs are another example of price hike.
I brought a Musicman Stingray 5 back from Nashville and saved £500 GBP on the UK price.

Yes, those prices are ridiculous high. But I also know that the amp is a great one and if you were able to afford it, you did the right move. I am not saying that this amp is no good. I am just saying that I know several guys who want one and are reclutant to buy it due to the really inflated price when compared to USA price. I think that a higher price in Europe is acceptable, but the current prices are really to high for me.
I also opened a thread on this matter explaining my point of view and asking for opinions. Unfortunately that thread has not recieved the attention I was aiming and expecting…

You made a very good point in your thread about Mark Bass, the same applies to Ashdown a British product; yet some models sell for less in the US than they do in the UK.
I was prepared to buy the 15" walkabout along with the 15" extension cab until I checked the US price, in the UK they both came $4320 USD instead of around $2100 USD, OK there is a shipping cost and duty but they don't ship single items they move them by the container load + I don't think the exporter will pay as much US taxes on exports.

cool move Folmeister (fellow NCAL-ite). I use a 4 ohm Scout 15 extension with my walkabout 12 and really love the sound. I run mine at a 2ohm total load and it coaxes 500w out of the Walkabout. Is the 15 you picked up 4 or 8 ohms.

I use a Mesa Diesel 115 (with Eminence Kappalite 3015 450 watt 8 ohm) under mine.
2.67 ohms
Really, it very seldom needs it. It's so stout on it's own.

New Years Eve:
One bluegrass gig on upright from 7-9.
One blues/jazz gig w/upright and electric from 9:30-11:30.

Both big rooms, big stages.

The Walkabout 12 combo ran with the input at 3.5, and master at 5 at both venues, and threw more than enough sound to cover the stage both places. It sounds great with both upright and electric. It's small size and weight made setup/teardown, running from one venue to the next, and setup/playing a very easy thing to do.

Smoking lil rig, with great big sound.

The sound techs at both places liked the DI as well; which I had set a 4, no ground lift required either place.

Happy New Year to you too Bassman. Sorry, I can't answer for Mesa or explain their policies. I am sorry you can't get a Walkabout at a fair price in the UK. They are nice amplifiers and quite unlike any other hybrid amps I've used.

I don't think any of us can push 4 8x10's with the walkabout, but I used it with my GS412, S810, and an Ampeg 810e (not at the same time) and it's actually been really loud. Just as loud (from what I could tell) as my AG500.
Am I crazy?

OK, I'm in! Just picked up a Walkabout to finish out my new mini rig. This is about the closest thing to a "mini SVT" as I have found. Wicked when using a pick! A little soft in the low end definition, but that's kinda the point, right?
