Metal Bands \m/

Just sayin that there are still a few more letters left in the alphabet...

But on another note:
AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Since moving out here to Texas my internet connection has been finicky as all hell, and at the moment for some reason its decided that it doesn't want me to watch youtube videos (?) so I am patiently waiting for my connection to get the stick out of its a$$

And to Inharmsway, don't recognize alot of those bands but using the ones I do know as reference, it is a more than worthy addition to the list and I for one would like to see more!!!! MORE!!!!!!:D

Ok, lets see...H,I,J...K!

Keep of Kalessin...melodic and epic, kinda black, kinda death (and literate...Earthsea anyone?) from the lovely country of Norway
YouTube - Keep of Kalessin-Crown of the kings

Keeper of Dreams...a nice mix of throwback thrash and early death metal from Hungary
YouTube - Keeper Of Dreams - Synesthesia (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Killwhitneydead...I assume everyone knows these guys but just in case...from Greensboro N.C. (Ric Fair's voice always says the name of any major city from N.C. in my head)
YouTube - killwhitneydead - Save Your Sermons For Sunday (Video)

King Diamond...if I have to explain who he is then you need your status as a metal head renewed
YouTube - KING DIAMOND - BURN (Live in Montreal 2003)

Kittie...From Ontario Canada, had a big hit around '99. I admit it, I have a soft spot for Kittie because I got to hang with them when they did Ozzfest.
YouTube - KITTIE Sorrow I Know version 2 Too Hot For TV 2010 OFFICIAL VIDEO

Kiuas...power metal from Finland with touches of folk and prog tossed in.

KMFDM...maybe a bit of a stretch on some of their material but a lot falls squarely in the metal of an industrial nature category. 16 albums since 1984 and they are still at it, I've been a big fan for more than 20 years.
YouTube - KMFDM - A Drug Against War (Live 2003)[HQ]

Korpiklaani...a bit of an anomaly among folk metal bands, Finland's Korpiklaani started as a folk band before adding metallic elements. So I guess technically they are metal folk? Either way, I love folk metal almost as much as thrash and these guys are one of the best, and they like to do a lot of drinking songs.

Now, if you'll excuse me I both started a diet and quit smoking two days ago and I'm going to the store to buy a carton of smokes and a shopping cart full of Easter candy before someone has to DIE!.

Hahaha! Internet de-retardified just in time! Compared to some of your other additions, I've heard of a few more of these bands, but Keep of Kalessin and Keeper of Dreams just blew me away, why can't there be more bands like this in the US goddamit!!! All these bands never seem to leave Europe!!!! But oh well, at least they got youtube videos up.

Now, if you'll excuse me I both started a diet and quit smoking two days ago and I'm going to the store to buy a carton of smokes and a shopping cart full of Easter candy before someone has to DIE!.
Hahaha, maybe next try you stagger them a little bit? Or just say f*** it, as a metalhead, this may apply to you...
-You go to a show
-Leads to drinking
-which leads to smoking
-which leads to herbal smoking, you know, to take drunken edge off :ninja:
-which leads to munchies
-rinse and repeat for several years of weekends

Its unavoidable, metal leads to awesome bad habits :D

Ahh...I feel so much better now that I got some candy and cigarettes. Maybe major lifestyle changes should be made more gradual, without my smokes and sweets I get to be a real bear! :D

Get it? Bear? Ursus? :help:

:scowl:

Speaking of candy we have...

Lard...a super group of sorts, well, more like Jello Biafra on vocals with various Ministry alumni as his backing band, actually its exactly Ministry with Jello on vocals and handling all the lyric writing duties. The soundtrack for my college years.
YouTube - LARD - Forkboy (+ LYRICS!!)

Lair Of The Minotaur...extreme thrash from Chicago, warning, the video has cheesy gladiator decapitations and scantily clad vampire chicks.
http://youtu.be/pl7SonqCNzI

Last Act of Defiance...old school crossover trash/hardcore from Macedonia
YouTube - LAST ACT OF DEFIANCE - decapitated

Ley del Caos...translates to Law of Chaos, very raw death metal from Chile.
YouTube - Ley Del Caos - Goreorgasmo

Lich King...from my neck of the woods globally speaking, Amherst, MA, very silly, very old school thrash. Their name is apparently a World of Warcraft reference, something I just now discovered looking for a video clip for them...sorry, I dont play video games of any kind, the last game system I owned was an Atari 5200, no lie.
YouTube - LICH KING - Intro & Act of War

Lick The Blade...going right back to the NWOBHM for their inspiration, Cleveland's own Lick the Blade. Not much for quality clips, they seem kinda like a local band but I manged to get one of their albums somehow.
YouTube - Lick The Blade performing Resistance, Rebellion, And Death on WRUW's Live From Cleveland

Liquid Graveyard...talk about an international band, from Spain with members from Ireland and the U.K. and signed to an Italian record label. Progressive metal with a mix of harsh and hauntingly melodic clean vocals by Raquel Walker
YouTube - Liquid Graveyard - Rumours Are Black Like Machine Guns

Longobardeath...from Milan, Italy (and yes, they sing in Italian!!!) somewhere between thrash and hard rock.
Invalid Link Removed

Lord Belial...part of the second wave of Black Metal and one of the first wave of Swedish black metal bands adopting the Norwegian template from the early 90's. Active from '92 they called it quits in '09.
Invalid Link Removed

Lordi...ah, Lordi, c'mon, who doesn't love Lordi? Winning by an unheard of landslide in the 2006 Eurovision contest, and by a metal band no less!!! Finland's Lordi needs no more explanation beyond witnessing their live Eurovision performance...behold, Lordi!
YouTube - Lordi @ Eurovision 2006

Lost Horizon...another in a long line of top notch power metal bands from Sweden.
YouTube - Lost Horizon - Denial of Fate

Luna Mortis...hailing from Madison, Wisconsin they sound very European. A kind of progresive mix of power metal and melodic death with both clean and harsh vocals by singer Mary Zimmer.
YouTube - Luna Mortis - Anemic World - alternate version video

Lunachicks...OK, closer to punk, but lead by the towering and stunning Theo Kogan the Lunachicks absolutely rock. I saw them open for GWAR in '90 and they tore up the place. I got to have a drink with the bass player Squid. Very cool band.
YouTube - Lunachicks 9/10/94 Toronto "11"

Lyriel...and yet more female vocalists, (I admit I got a thing for women in rock and metal) From Germany and self described as "dark romantic celtic" that actually seem like an accurate description. Oh metal, with your many sub genres of sub genres.
YouTube - Lyriel - Enchanted Moonlight - 11

Keep 'em comin InHarmsWay!

Some good ones there. Admittedly I knew a lot of them but a lot I dont know and I like all kinds of metal with the possible exception of hair metal.

Is it odd that I really dont consider "hair metal" metal and yet stuff with violins, hurdy gurdies, and operatic singers metal?

Does that make me a bad person?

Well, since I'm here anyway...

Macbeth...pretty straight forward metal from Germany, but they sing in German and metal is so much more metal sung in any guttural language.
YouTube - Macbeth - Hunde wollt ihr ewig leben

Mantic Ritual...throwback thrash (man, there are more and more of them...and I couldnt be happier) from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Marduk...black metal from Sweden, been around since around '91 these guys pulled an inversion of sorts. Where many early black metal bands adopted a more death metal structure to their songs over time these guys started out sounding much closed to death and moved to the black metal template over the years. Black metal with decent production, how refreshing.
YouTube - Marduk - Rom 5:12 - Imago Mortis

Marionette...melodic death from...Sweden! Where else?
YouTube - Marionette - Parasite

MD. 45...a one off supergroup of sorts from '96 featuring Dave Mustaine and Lee Ving.
YouTube - Md 45 - Hell`s Motel

Mechanism...death metal from the great white north, Canada
YouTube - Mechanism - lord And Thief - Inspired Horrific 2009

M.O.D...basically the Billy Milano Band, and if you dont know who Billy Milano is just turn in your metal head card. I saw them in '87 on the U.S.A. for M.O.D. tour and Milano was yelling at some skinhead for beatin on people then during the next song jumped in the pit and beat the snot out of the guy, unfortunately when he jumped in the crowd his big spandex clad ass landed on my head and gave me whiplash. Hurt like hell and I swear since then I've had a bad neck.
YouTube - M.O.D. - Balls On Bread (Live at Headhunter's 2007)

Mokoma...really good stuff from Finland. They covered a spectrum of metal styles over their career... and all sung in Finnish!!!
YouTube - Mokoma - Takatalvi

Moonsorrow...a mix of black and folk metal...its pegan metal. Just dont call 'em Viking metal, they dont like that since they are Finnish. Really long songs between 10 to 30 minutes, I honestly dont think they have more than 3 or 4 songs under 7 minutes on the six albums I have.
YouTube - Moonsorrow - Raunioilla (METAL)

Moonspell...from Portugal these guys just keep evolving their sound. Starting out somewhere between gothic and black metal they can have traditional Portuguese acoustic ballads to synth-pop to jazz standards to avant garde prog songs. No one album let alone one song can serve as an example of their sound or style. With 8 albums from '95 to '08 there is a lot to discover.

Mortis Dei...pretty straight forward death metal, but they are Polish and so am I.
YouTube - Mortis Dei - Human Madness

Municipal Waste...one of the absolute best throwback trash bands and one of my absolute favorite bands, period. Lots of humor, lots of thrash puns, just killer. Saw them opening up for fellow Richmond, Virginia natives GWAR.
Municipal Waste is gonna f you up!!!

Mutant Supremacy...raw death metal from the Big Apple
YouTube - Mutant Supremacy-Morbid Dismemberment

My Lament...kinda doomy, kinda gothic, kinda black, but definitely from Belgium
YouTube - My Lament - My Damnation Deep

Myndsnare...heavy prog metal trio from India
YouTube - MyndSnare - Changing Skins

Mystic Prophecy...German power metal
YouTube - Mystic Prophecy - Burning Bridges

All things Devin Townsend are just amazing. I think its the mighty power of the dreadlock skullet.

Necrothread, that starts with "N", so does...

Nachtmystium...American psychedelic black metal? These guys keep growing on me. Really worth a second and third listen.
YouTube - ‪Nachtmystium - High On Hate‬‏

Napalm Death...if you've never heard of England's Napalm Death then you aint been listening to heavy music for very long now have you.
1986
YouTube - ‪Napalm Death- Scum (Studio Recording)‬‏
2006
YouTube - ‪Napalm Death - When All Is Said and Done (HQ) with lyrics‬‏

Neaera... melodic death metal from Münster, Germany. I love Münster, both Herman and the cheese, I'd like to say my home town is Münster but sadly it is not.
YouTube - ‪Neaera "Prey To Anguish" (OFFICIAL VIDEO)‬‏

Necrodeath ...thrashy death metal from Italy. Put out a couple of albums in the late 80's but mostly been active since '99 with 8 albums released in the past decade.
YouTube - ‪Necrodeath - Forever Slaves‬‏

Necrophagist...super technical death metal from Germany, very intricate songs with lots of quick changes.
Invalid Link Removed

Neuronia ...other than being Polish (and also the name of a genus of moths in the Noctuidae family) I dont know much about Neuronia. Not very extreme, almost punk rock at times, southern rock at other times... I like 'em.
YouTube - ‪Neuronia - Psycho‬‏

Neurothing...maybe not a fair description but this other entry from Poland reminds me of a poor mans Fear Factory. Not a bad thing, I very much like Fear Factory, but they feel kind of dated, which in light of my love of throwback thrash is a completely unfair critique.
YouTube - ‪Neurothing - Macheta‬‏

Nifelheim...this Swedish black metal band has quite a different take on black metal in that they take the old Venom template in both sound and look. Toss in twin brothers Erik and Per (or as they prefer, Tyrant and Hellbutcher) sporting identical skullets and you've really got something.
YouTube - ‪NIFELHEIM - Gates Of Damnation - Festung Open Air 2008‬‏

Nightwish...this Finnish band is as operatic and symphonic as you can get.
YouTube - ‪Nightwish - 02 Planet Hell

Nihilist...its on like a ticking time bomb!!! Throwback thrash from sunny California with fun songs. Oh hell yea!!!
YouTube - ‪Nihilist - It's On...‬‏

Nile...hailing from Greenville, SC, Nile is the avatar of American death metal
YouTube - ‪Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance‬‏

Noctem...Symphonic death metal from... Valencia, Valencian Community? OK, I had to Google that and it turns out it is "an autonomous community of Spain located in central and south-eastern Iberian Peninsula." You learn something every day.
YouTube - ‪Noctem: "Divinity" feat. C.A. Septic Flesh‬‏

Nuclear Assault...out of the ashes of the early Anthrax lineup changes, Dan Lilker and John Connelly formed the amazing thrash band Nuclear Assault. Releasing 5 albums between '86-'93 before mercifully killing the band in '95. Their first three albums are some of the best heavy/thrash metal the 80's had to offer.
YouTube - ‪Nuclear Assault - Rise from the Ashes‬‏

Hahaha, fitting that this is the thread that refuses to die! lol

Once again Ursus blowin my mind with some awesome new stuff (to me at least) but yet to have a chance to listen through it all, lookin forward to when I have a few moments!

And Rewopnayr... wow, bada$$, but wow... Spermswamp?! Anal Blast?!?! I F****** LOVE METAL!!!!!!!
