Metal you've been enjoying lately

Dream Theater of Course, as well as Opeth, Angra, Blind Guardian, Edguy, Kamelot *just saw those two, omg so amazing* Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, Symphony X, Nile, Liquid Tension Experiment, Nevermore, Triviums new album Shogun is great too.

Mostly I have been getting really into Outworld. I love their song structure as well as every member's technical proficiency. I like to describe them as a "non-thinking-man's Dream Theater". Also Rusty Cooley is such an intense Gu*tarist

holy crap, I can't believe people here have heard of Behold the Arctopus, they are probably one of my most favorite bands of all time, and one of the few bands that accually keep me interested in listening to their music instead of the predictable boring music that seems to be mass produced.

I've been listening to alot of mastadon, they got abit of a cool sound going on, Gojira is bad ass, been craving a new band to listen to, but hard to find bands I actually like

oh and if you like Behold the Arctopus check out the "bass" players side project Indricothere

I've been digging Conifer's latest, Crown Fire, pretty hard. They're hard to pin down, so I suggest that anyone who likes "post-metal" check 'em out.

Awesome, I'm always stoked to see bands from Portland get recognition, it's such a small scene and not many people come through, it's good to see them get out. Check out Ocean too, different but similar. It's a Maine thing I think, all pine trees and water.

I've been listening to Baroness, old Metallic, Orange Goblin recently, but mainly I've been on a Bowie and Iggy Pop.

Oh, trust me, I'm well aware of Ocean.

And yeah, its definitely a Maine thing. (I'm a Portland native)

I think I've mentioned this before, but the doom band I was in for a brief period of time (Village of Dead Roads) are friends with the Ocean dudes, so we played with them a couple times, and they occasionally play nearby. Super intense live stuff, first live band I've seen live that fully does the bass shaking your guts Sunn-esque thing. They are super heavy and strangely meditative at the same time.

Portland is an amazing town by the way, super touristy, but very nice... from what I remember. That was the only night of the tour that I got too too wasted, I felt pretty bad about it. Still played OK, but I kept falling into the wall next to me between songs... what a rockstar.
