Metallica's new bassist

I think the new bassist looks a little awkward in Metallica. Although he's an excellent musician, everyone else in the band are grungy cowboys while he looks like he should be in Pantera with his 8 foot long pony tail.

He could... If Pantera hadn't just died with their boots on :bawl:

But as we were speaking:

As for Jason as a bassplayer... Or he was forced not to shine... or he just could not! From watching/hearing him playing I'd guess he just couldn't.
(remember 'live sh*t binge n purge''s bass solo ... he had the chance there! what did he do? :spit: )

Cliff: He was nice but he wasn't THAT good (pentatonics all the way  )... Ok he did *some little* revolution in the metal bass but nothing that we never heard before. (Kind of a Geezer Buttler copy but with lots of dist and wah).

But Trujillo? man... have you heard suicidal tendencies stuff? he plays a lot better than both any time of the day... Even if Metallica's core try to strangle him - Good Luck! ahah, he's just to good not to get noticed even only playing root notes.

Rock On Trujillo :bassist:

Trujillo is Metallicas new bassist.

to reply to Mustaine's getting booted out of metallica, he just sucked man. i have the cliff em' all video and there is footage of him playing and i think he just sucked as a lead guitarist. see for yourself. kirk is a million times better and i would pick him over dave any day.

I just can't stand someone talking bad about Mustaine :spit:. He is better than Kirk in most ways. Songwriting, playing etc. Kirks solos are on the same scale everytime and he isn't very good live. Mustaine created the worlds greates band, MEGADETH! Ok I might not be to objective here :D I haven't seen footage of him with metallica though. He might be less good because he could be dope sick at the time. As we all know he has had problems with drugs of various form. But as a musician Dave must be counted as better than Kirk whether you like what he plays or not.

I think Kirk may not be the better musician, but he is the better fit for Metallica.

Mustaine is a killer rhythm player and vocalist but that would mean Hetfield out of a job and that just wouldn't work.

Trujillo... he'll look the part on tour I'm sure based on other times I've seen him live (with Ozzy). He'll be more 'metal' than the other three of them put together probably.

Well, I am glad that Mustaine got kicked out from Metallica because otherwise the best band in the world wouldn't exist ;). And now we got two excellent bands, both Metallica and Megadeth.

I hope that will shine through since I value Metallica "kill em all" - "...and justice for all" way higher than the new stuff.

Now i agree with that.

:D

I think Hammit is a better guitarist then Mustaine but Mustaine is an AMAZING songwritter-rhythem lyrics, solo's everything. As a frontmen I think Hetfield and mustaine are equal-they both have their styles

metallica might have not sold out if Mustaine was there though. But on the other hand Risk sucked so...
But some of the best songs on "Kill em All" and "Ride the Lightning" were writen by Hetfield and Mustaine. Burton contributed alot to the songwritting as well. I say they all got talent (well Ulrich HAD talent)

Lyrics? You had me right with you up until that point. He writes some absolutely horrible lyrics IMO, ie) MotoPsycho. Taste it!

Mechanix (so damn cool), Killing is my business , Rattle head, Peace Sells, Good Mourning/Black Friday, 502, In my darkes hour, Liar, Holy Wars, Hangar 18, Go to hell, Angry Again, Foreclosure of a dream, Sweating bullets, Countdown to extinction, A tout le monde, Victory, I thought I knew it all...

Just some random great lyrics he has written up until the Youthanasia album (I don't know the last three albums lyrics as well as these thats why I left them out). Taken from memory. And who has the coolest titles to his cd's? "Killing is my business... And business is good", "Peace Sells... But whos buying?", "So far, so good, so what?", "Rust in peace", "Countdown to extinction" and "Youthanasia".

Oh... I LOVE Megadeth... :D

tallica had some good lyrics; Master of puppets (the master really is heroin/cocane ingenious song writing), for whom the bell tolls, blackened, one, -any song on Puppets or Justice-
Black albem was OK for lyrics, I didn't care for them (more "popish", less evil thrash lyrics with catchy names and symbolism)

Hey, you forgot "Victory"! A kickass tune that takes advantage of all of the cool song titles they've come up with.

The lyrics are basically Megadeth song titles strung together (roughly chronologically, no less) into one song. Busts me up lauging every time I hear it. Pretty clever.

Here's a bit:

May the past 'Rust In Peace' In 'Hangar 18'
And 'Countdown To Extinction'
Just be a bad dream

I thought Cryptic Writings was pretty cool (and a cool title) myself.

But yeah, Risk sucked. :(

Oh... I LOVE Megadeth... :D

Likewise, dude.

Nope I didn't... However they have many more great songs just based on the lyrics. As Is aid I picked a few from memory.

And I just heard that Dave is coming back with a solo album. Let's see what happens with that in the future. Remember it's just a rumor as of yet.

Well, OK. Ya didn't. But that one always stuck out in my head just for for the "cool... never heard anyone do that before" factor. :)

And I'll throw in a vote for "Dawn Patrol" while I'm at it. Short, but sweet. With a fun (and easy) creepy-ass bass riff!

Hmmm. That's cool. Is he going to be doing vocals only? Last I heard the docs were telling him he'd never play again. (Nerve damage.) I'm sure he can still write and sing, tho.

That's a great song to :D

As I said it's a rumor and I don't know how much truth there is to it. However I find it hard to see Dave doing a solo album without playing the guitars himself. I hope he writes, sings and plays on the album (if there really is a album on the way).
