midlife crisis..... it could be worse

My kids are grown and out on their own. I've got some extra money I haven't had during the last couple of decades while I was raising them so I guess I'm going to buy basses and guitars that I really don't need. I kinda feel bad when I talk to dudes at work about guitars and stuff because they're in a different stage in life(still parenting young children) and they can't afford to spend money on fun stuff. Hopefully in the future they'll be able to be as irresponsible as I am now.

It plays great(not that I do...).

It's a relic job that a company, I think in New Jersey, did on a "entry level" LPJ. They did a great job and I did some of my own stuff to it including putting Burstbucker 61 pups in in it. It honestly doesn't sound as good as the LP tribute but It looks badass.

When you get right down to it, compared to most hobbies ours is of very reasonable cost. Not only on the initial expense but on maintenance and continued costs (green fees, etc) and if you buy right and take care of your instruments and amps you can get most of your money back when you sell it. See how easily I justified spending money on musical equipment, that skill only comes from 40 years of marriage. Enjoy your new found financial freedom.

My advice.......... first, I'm guilty of unrestrained bass guitar buying, better known as GAS. Had a collection of 24 basses and now down to 17 and need to take that down even farther..............

Avoid clutter. Avoid too much of the same thing. One day you will be old like me (72) and you'll ask yourself, "why do I have all of this crap?"
