Mighty Mite Body Closeout at Stew Mac

Now I have a dilemma. And the obvious solution is to just have two P basses. I went to a pawn shop that was having a sale yesterday and picked up a 1997 Squier Affinity P bass in good condition at a great price. The intention was to use that as a source for parts. But I got the bass home and I realized that it was a full thickness body. I also realized that the body looks like it's made of alder. So I think I might just rebuild the Squier and hold on to the MM body. The Squier pickguard is nicely aged so it works well with the Sonic Blue body. I have a mock up of the MM body with a Badass bridge. I'll probably buy a different pickguard for the Squier body.
I know it's only been 2 days, but please let me know when you get them and install them and how they work for you.
That's happening. I decided to just use the Squier body and neck and build a second P bass with the MM body. I have most of the parts. I'm buying a black pickguard for the Squier.
I'm calling them tomorrow and asking for a refund of the difference. It was only a week ago and I'm sure I could return it a week later so hopefully they will work with me. I have other stuff to order from them also so hopefully we can do it in one fell swoop.
I'd be bummed if I paid the orig price but around $100, painted, I'm not complaining.

Well, I pulled the trigger today since I had a lot of extra parts and a few necks lying around. If they arrive by saturday, I should have something assembled by the end of the weekend. More likely, I'll get them sometime next week.
Mostly finished mine up last night. Really happy with the Original '62 pickups.
I'm waiting on a string retainer but it setup fine without it.

I just put Geezers in my P bass and I'm very happy w them, but the other main pup I was considering as the Original 62. Glad to hear you like it. I'll have to try it in my next P build.Mostly finished mine up last night. Really happy with the Original '62 pickups.

Sonic Blue P and Antique White Jazz arrived today--both look pretty darn good. Sadly, the Mighty Mite neck I had lying around fits the jazz, but the p pocket is too tight by a noticeable margin. I'll have to get a little creative with that. Also, the cheap pickguard and control plate I have for the jazz don't want to line up together. I do have some clear pcb sheets around I could maybe rig up something unusual with.
Once I put a black pickguard on the blue p, I came to an impasse. I have a full set of nickel hardware and a full set of black hardware (sans black PG and string tree screws I'd have to order) waiting here. I cannot decide which way to deck it out. I'll take a picture once it's sunny out and I can get the sonic blue to actually look blue instead of washed-out white.

I had a mighty mite neck and all the parts for a p bass in my drawer so when I saw the $85 price for a Sonic Blue body I pounced on it. Sounds and plays great and cost me less than a Squier. With standard heavy hardware it clocks in at just over 8#. In dim light it looks more like seafoam green but against my tall grass the blue pops.
I'm a big fan of the emg P pickup and I had to do some routing to fit the battery. It was worth it in the end, this swamp ash is some tough wood.

Finally got around to installing a nickel plated string retainer. Except for the tuning machines everything is nickel plated rather than chrome.
