Mighty Mite Body Closeout at Stew Mac

DADNABIT Talkbass!!! I started with one of the stumac bodies today and that turned into a whole build project.

Do you know what size tuning posts these need? 3/8 I presume. I want to buy some Hipshot lic Ultralites for mine.

This is the one I bought.. NEW Fender Lic Tinted Maple/ Rosewood P Bass NECK Precision Mighty Mite MM2906VT
and it states it has 11/16" holes. The HB6C 1/2" Hipshot ultralites are supposed to be for 11/16" holes. I did message the seller to be sure they knew what I needed.

There should be a detailed schematic on the Stew Mac site.

Anyway, the MM P neck has exactly 18mm diameter tuner holes. I had some Gotoh tuner's that were 17.6mm and I had to use some aluminum tape to fatten them up, so I'll be buyin a different tuner this time around.

Burwabit...I'm with you man. I'm caught up too. I just needed an excuse to get started and got one. No sense in letting my pickups sit there.

Everyone must post their completed builds!

Here is what they wrote. I specifically asked if 18.29 mm would fit into the 18mm hole.

The installation on that neck looks good. I might go with those. I need to find a schematic though...I'm confused....the 1/2 posts are 16mm but the peg holes are 18mm. So I'm guessing the inner diameter of the ferrules is a tad over 16mm?

The BSO page says..."1/2" string post fits 41/64" (16mm) headstock holes" the MM is 18.

I called hiPshot, and they told me that by default the tuners that you are looking at come with 17 millimeter bushings. He said if you order from hip shot directly that they can ship them with 18 millimeter bushings for the Mighty Mite neck but as it stands now my guess is that it won't be a perfect fit for you...

I should have searched more! Nice price. Will add BSO to my regular price searches.

Not trying to justify getting the wrong "part" but 1mm = .040 which is .020 on a diameter. Shouldn't be a problem to shim it. While thats a little hokey it's not a $1500 or even $500 bass.

Mine showed up yesterday! Neck is supposed to be here today.
Very well done, especially for the price. I'm excited to build a new version of my '75 P.

I figured this was an appropriate addition...

Just got in a MM swamp ash p bass body that I purchased from a member on TB the other day.

I used Stew Macs tuners, pickguard, knobs, pg screws, shielding, and pre wired pot/jack harness. The neck is an 08 MIM Fender p neck; pickup is a Revel Vintage 58.

Still waiting on a new 70's neck plate and a tug bar to finish her up!

I've got some kind of wiring issue ATM (slight buzzing when my finger contacts a pickup screw or pole piece, then goes away when I touch a second metal part somewhere else on the bass,) but have some other minor tweaking to do so I'll address that in due time.

Fun to see the projects arising from the sale!

The rosewood with burst finish is beautiful.

I have an old neck and guts from a Profile Silhouette (P bass copy) bass laying around. They were made at the same factory as Fender Japan. You reckon the neck pocket would be right on these? I need to find a setup tech to measure the neck I guess.

You were right. No dice on the fit. Needs bigger bushings. Not sure yet if I'll go for those from Hipshot or get the StewMac tuners.
