Mike Lull's PLK machine

I received an email from Guitar Works which is Mike Lull's shop. They have a new PLK machine for fret leveling and dressing and they are offering 20% off if I bring my bass in by Dec 31 and 50% off for a setup at the same time. I have a 2003 Mike Lull bass and a 2008 MIA Precision.

How do I know if I need frets leveled and dressed?

Steve, I didn't receive the e-mail from Mike, but the last time I spoke to him he was offering 1/2 off the price of a PLEKing of a Lull bass or guitar: you might want to contact Mike or Roger Gee at the shop to see if that offer is still in place (and perhaps the 20% mentioned in the e-mail is for non-Lull instruments?)

If that's still the case (50% off the PLEKing of Lulls, 20% off other brands as well as a full "Mike Lull" setup), I'll be sending my M4 and M5 in ASAP- that's a killer deal, and all the stories I've heard about basses here undergoing a run through the PLEK machine (not only Mike's) have been in the range of "It's like playing a brand new top-of-the-line bass". Combine that with a setup by Mike, one of the best neck & fret men in the business *period*, and I can't imagine a better-playing instrument. :D

Here's a copy of the email I got, I don't own one of Mike's Basses (yet) there's one coming :)
He does the best set up ever!

I went in the back of the shop and watched Mike run the machine from start to finish on a new boutique guitar. It was fascinating how the machine runs a brass measurement tool up and down the neck in between the strings, and once again with the strings off. After calculating any differentials, it proceeds to mill the frets perfectly level. Pretty awesome application of CNC machinery.

Seeing how long it took him to level the frets by hand on some of my basses, and the fact that he still can't compete in accuracy against the PLEK beast, I'd be more than willing to try it next time I find I need a fret level.
