Is the Flying Mole really $650 (approx)? Ouch!!!

I believe the Flying Mole mono block was priced at around $650-$700 when they first hit the US market in 2004.
But, don't you love eBay? That's where I got mine for $4.99! The shipping charge was more than the amp.

how would you characterize the tone of the Mole?

Crate is 10.5"Wx1.75"Hx11.5"D at almost 10lbs.
Flying Mole is 5.25"Wx1.75"Hx9.5"D at less than 1.5lbs.
Crate puts out 100 watts @ 4 ohms; 75 @ 8 ohms.
Flying Mole puts out 160 watts @ 4 ohms; 100 @ 8 ohms.
VFE Rocket EQ still serves as preamp.

how would you characterize the tone of the Mole?

It's what some would call typical Class D. Somewhat glassy and devoid of warmth up high. That's how many stereo magazine reviewers characterized its output at that end of the harmonic spectrum back then. But they also wrote that the amp was best at reproducing strong, full bass tones. I would tend to agree; anyways, I back off my highs and upper mids for the types of gigs I do. So for me, it's all good.

I'm having a 'more than usual' difficult time with not buying a TTE500. I saw them at NAMM. Man, talk about build quality and a solid piece of gear.

Don't need it.... want it though

Are you diggin' it? Seems like Markbass's kind of answer to the Streamliner.... advanced power management, multiple tubes in the preamp, old school EQ, etc.

You and me, both. I love my Streamliner, but I don't see any reason not to own both. The tube compressor is really intriguing to me.

I'm really sorry for this but... yes, I'm digging it. Now I'm having a really hard time not buying the matching 151 cabinet. I've got to figure how to transport it though. I'm not quite in love with the dufflebag thing that Markbass has. I think it's odd that Markbass did such a great job on the LM and F series bags but the thing the TTE500 goes in is just a bit funky for me to buy site unseen.

I recently upgraded my amp, bass and bought two new pedals.

The Enigma and the VTD just arrived yesterday. The American Special P had its bridge replaced with a Babicz and a complete set up with in the first two hours after it arrived last Wednesday.
I also have an Xotic X-Blender in the mail!!

Well considering the Bass in the softcase will hold the VTD and the Enigma as one combined Backpack..that leaves two free hands to easily carry the two cabs. I am more than capable of lifting only 30lbs with one hand. The total rig only weighs in at 60 lbs. So why do you need to see a video of someone carrying such a light weight? It weighs less than my old SVT head!! Now my B-3 player is the one with the back problems

Technically this is my wife's new rig, but I will be using it as well. PF500 head and a locally built 2x10 cab which comes in at about 40 lbs so she can easily lift it.
