Mini Rigs of Doom Four

Here’s mine. Genz-Benz Shuttle 3.0 into a Schroeder Mini 12+L. Cab is 4-ohm so can use the full 300W output of the Genz-Benz. It can be as loud as I need it to be and also sounds great. Cab is 20 lbs and head is 2.75 lbs.

Ok, so this is only somewhat mini. I gigged this setup for years. Carvin ProBass 150 combo atop an 18" bottom built by a friend of mine. 150 watts into 1-18" and 1-10". Worked great until I joined a band with two guitarists using Marshall half-stacks.

I've played through a couple of those little combos plugged into extension cabinets (usually a 15) and was impressed by how great they sounded!

This would be mine.

A Rumble 500 Head with two Rumble 112’s.

I also picked up a new Trace Elliot Elf for a backup head when my local Guitar Center put them on a local sale for $199. They weren’t listed as being on sale on the main website. The local sale was only for a couple of days. I had thought that they were cool before and had tried one in the store. When I saw that price I thought about it and went back and got one the next day. I was glad I did. I got the last one.

How are the Trace 2x8’s ? There’s one for sale locally. I was considering it to pair up with my TH500 or 800D.

I did have a Greenboy 2x8 and it was great 2x8 and a tweeter/horn. Sold it and wished I had not, so I got one of the elfs and love it.
Will do most any church gig I have inside with plenty to spare, once in a while we do an outside show so I carry both. They are 400 watt cabinet so they can take a lot, I think you will not have any issues at all.

Go to GC and carry your amp and try one if they have one and let me know what ya think.

Good luck

Lenny

What kind of gigs are you playing with the 2x2x8s?
Do you have a HPF?

I use one for most of my indoor gigs, when we go outside I usually carry both to fill in better.

I had a HPF before when I only one crazy 88 and at higher volume it was nice. Since the elf's I have never needed one with these cabinets at higher volumes.

I play only 4's and not 5's so never needed one.

Don't know if she is mini enough - but here she in the back ground.

Pretty awesome, with a lovely trio of short-scale basses to boot!

Some time ago, Chef posted the criteria for a MRoD: "You should be able to schlep your M-RoD (mini-rig-o-doom) into the venue single-handedly, easily, by yourself."

This, friends, is... I'm not really sure what this is. An Ampeg PF-500 atop a GK 112 MBX cab. A friend asked me what was the smallest bass amp she could use and I sent her this picture. I then loaned her the pictured equipment. No idea what these things sound like together. I should try it sometime.

The Ampeg head is my back up amp. This little GK speaker is... a very small aluminum enclosure with a 12" speaker in it. Rated for 100w. I bought it used on a whim from GC for about $125 plus shipping. I see it there now for $300. I also see one on Ebay for $460. I doubt this thing can be of any use to me, except as a practice cab for the apartment. Maybe I should just flip it quick or a few extra bucks.

You should delete your post (or edit out some of it) and flip the cabinet!
