[Minneapolis/MN Thread] Midwestern Comradarie

My wife and I leave the little 10k population, north WI town of Merrill, to go to the Cities quite often. We usually catch a band (last couple trips we saw the Holmes Brothers, and Davina and the Vagabonds...both great.)

We really like thrift stores, and hit many on the trip.

Is it time to start planning yet?

Assuming that Greg (hdracer) is still up for hosting.

The question... Hmmmm gets me thinking...

A CALL FOR FEEDBACK AND IDEAS:

We had expanded hours last time - 4 hours, instead of 3... and some of us cheated on both ends. :ninja:
What would be a good length to hang out?
  • 11-3
  • 11-4
  • 11-5
  • 12-4
  • 12-5

Charles Fletcher did an awesome (IMHO - Thank you so much!) mini-seminar... I'd love more of the same as a regular feature. Hang-and-do-something.
Thoughts??? (I have other TBer's in mind for future mini-sems)
  • Good idea?
  • Interrupts the flow...

(3)
Other suggestions for content...

Any other grill-masters out there willing to help man the grills this summer?

I sent a PM to Dave today filling him in on my situation.
I am moving my shop to a new larger building.
It is a little out of town, Elk River. I am right on US Hwy 10 by 101.
I am right behind Main Street Music.

I hope the extra drive for some of you isn't to much.

Thoughts?

1. I choose 11-5. Bring own lunch, byob, and it makes for a much larger window of opportunity for people who might not be able to make it otherwise, especially since the shop is moving to Elk River.

2. GREAT idea. Should have more, actually - give people who want to socialize plenty of time to socialize, and to have a mini-seminar going whenever someone wants to visit one. We don't need to have them on mostly theory, we could also have them on technique, identifying vintage instruments, soldering skills, effects / synth techniques / discussions, whatever anyone can think of. Bass setup procedures is a big one that I think could be run at every GTG. Lessons, too?

3. Jam session. Someone brings a drummer or two, we draw lots to see which single guitar player is permitted to bring his gear ;)

4. I don't belong behind another man's grill. I cook rare and with large flames; typically involving beer either in my hand or helping to steam something.

I work not 5 minutes from there.
