[Minneapolis/MN Thread] Midwestern Comradarie

We're a very welcoming bunch. I've gigged in New Richmond as well.

KO

I think I was there ... at least I was there one of the times KO played New Richmond. It's been a few years. Trying to think of the bar name. Kelleher's maybe? The building was over 100 years old, north of the river with the river edge in the back parking lot. We played FunFest weekend, under a tent, and the stage was a car trailer. I had to be more controlled - jumping about caused the cymbals to rock.

There was a much larger and more well known band playing south of us. Our crowd was sparse.

I missed the last GTG too.

Elk River is great. What ever times you guys decide.

Neck building would be interesting. I can learn all about what I did wrong... and I have a "problem" neck I could use advice on before I glue in the truss rod and fretboard. There's an odd back bow now that I roughed out the shape. The advice, I suspect, will be to use it for firewood.

Assuming that Greg (hdracer) is still up for hosting.

The question... Hmmmm gets me thinking...

A CALL FOR FEEDBACK AND IDEAS:

We had expanded hours last time - 4 hours, instead of 3... and some of us cheated on both ends. :ninja:
What would be a good length to hang out?
  • 11-3
  • 11-4
  • 11-5
  • 12-4
  • 12-5

Charles Fletcher did an awesome (IMHO - Thank you so much!) mini-seminar... I'd love more of the same as a regular feature. Hang-and-do-something.
Thoughts??? (I have other TBer's in mind for future mini-sems)
  • Good idea?
  • Interrupts the flow...

Other suggestions for content...

Any other grill-masters out there willing to help man the grills this summer?

  1. 11-5 is my choice. The longer time slot is better as the time always seems to disappear faster than I can believe.
  2. I agree with the idea of doing mini-seminars on a variety of topics. I'd love to hear about Lonny's builds. I think the middle of the GTG is a great time for the organized section as you're likely to catch the most people then.
  3. Drawing a blank here.
  4. I can help with the grill. Though, the earlier suggestion of bring your own food/beverage is also fine by me.

Let me know what you guys are thinking! Excited to see everyone. And let me know if you want me to plan on bringing any wood or blanks for discussion/presentation purposes, just want to plan ahead on what to set aside in the shop.

ImageUploadedByTalkBass1368637779.937819.jpgl'Il be bringing a '40s tube PA that I'm almost done fixing. Shown here is what happens when you install a capacitor backwards. I can't wait!

I don't typically talk much about my gigs (unless you are Facebook friends with me lol), but I'd like to invite you all to my show on 6/1 at the doghouse in maplewood. Its a benefit show for a friend of mine who recently got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and we're bringing all our friends together to raise money to help out!
