I think nowadays, with all the emphasis on analytics, I think the key to being a good manager is dealing with the players, keeping them motivated and on track. Joe Torre wasn't the greatest in game manager, but he got his team playing their best. Buck always struck me as the opposite.
It's interesting, and there's truth to it, but to be fair the Dodgers have developed a really really good farm system as well.I think many look at the Dodgers as this generation's Yankees - thowwing money at all their issues. In a time when teams are looking at innovative thinking, the Dodgers are trying to spend their way there. Last year was the biggest example.
