Watching tonight's game on a bit of a delay so no spoilers please, but just wanted to once again say how good Buck is for baseball, especially in this day of people talking about half-arsed human tool Manny Machado as MVP. The Mets now hustle with muscle on every single ball in play, and I just heard them say they lead all of baseball in infield hits. This is a team I can feel good about, even down 2 in the 4th.
It may be small consolation, Gaolee, but it is might be that the Mariners' pitching is not that bad. The Red Sox unloaded on the White Sox last night 16-3 against a pretty good pitcher in Dylan Cease (BTW - anyone else think Cease looks a little like Freddie Mercury?)
Story remains hot (3-run HR) and now Christian Vasquez (3 for 4 with a 3-run HR) is heating up as well.

Yeah I've been anxiously awaiting some signs of life from the Boston bats (especially from Kike'). Now all we need is to either wake up the bullpen, or make some deals for a fresh bullpen.
Story is (finally) getn it done both in the field and at the plate. And he's become a fire hot part of an already fire hot infield. Other players get hot or cold. But (to me) nobody in the MLB shows up every single game steady as a rock like Xander Bogarts.
That was a fun game. The Sox also have some momentum right now. 13.5 games back only a week and a half ago. Now 9.5 games back winning 8 of the last 10. Going into a FIVE game series at home against the Orioles. That SHOULD keep the momentum going.
They don't see Tampa Bay or NYY again until JULY. So the Sox will just have to chip away at their numbers until they can take a big swing at the division with FOURTEEN games in a row in July against one of those two teams. Eyes on July. That's when/where the AL East will be decided. (OK Sweeping Toronto at the end of June would certainly help as well.)

Yes to all of the above especially Kike who is fun to watch when he gets going. If 28-30M per year might have gotten Xander signed in the pre-season, he has just added another 4 or 5 M per year and an extra year or two with how he going so far.
I always hold my breath when the Red Sox spend big on a free agent. Some can handle Boston and do great - Manny is exhibit #1. Others struggle with it - Crawford and Price to name just two.

Center Fielder takes his eye off the ball to avoid the collision, and the ball drops to the grass and starts rolling away.

He SHOULD be standing on 3rd, brushing the dust off as the ball arrives back to the cutoff man.

WHY pitch to Joc in that situation? Buck stepped in it there. Guy was absolutely toasting your staff all night, and you still throw to him in that situation with 2 outs and a base open? The second Diaz almost hit him with the second pitch I knew he was spooked, and called the outcome.

The game of numbers strikes again. In last nights 4-3 loss to the Sewers, the Cardinals had 7 pop foul outs, which is the most the Cards have had in a game since 1957 against the Brooklyn Dodgers. Already have one tonight in the first.
The Mariners bit it against Oakland. They pounded Houston last night. They are a confounding team.
Goldschmidt continues to burn. 3-4 today against the Brewers with a 3-run dinger and 4 RBIs. And the Cards have three more games in the month, so his already gaudy stats could continue to climb.
Kikuchi was great in May! I've enjoyed watching his last few starts.
The Jays have won three in a row in LA against a pretty solid Angels team. Get the brooms out this afternoon, Blue Jays!

Kyle Lewis is back in a big way, and Julio Rodriguez is hitting everything all of a sudden. The Mariners' lineup is beginning to look a lot better.
