I'm hoping the Mariners give me some good baseball to watch. The Rockies are not a reliable source of positive viewing.
Story has had a very rough start, but is starting to turn things around. I still like the signing.

Story tonight - 4 for 4, 3 HR, single, walk, 7 rbi, 5 runs, stolen base.

Story was coming into a difficult, although very well-paying, situation - out of Coors Field (I heard that the elevation changes how pitches break and that is a big adjustment), new league, new position, limited spring training. Since the Sox sucked early, there was no cushion that a winning record might have given him. Also, he is part of the whole Bogaerts will-he-stay-or-will-he-go drama -- I think Story was brought in as insurance against Bogaerts not signing, not as a replacement, but the Hot Take Media like to stir up the BS. Last night, Youk and OB were saying that Story has a rep as a popular, talkative teammate, but he couldn't really be himself in the midst of his struggles at the plate. A night like last night will do wonders for the psyche. I often forget that hitting a baseball in MLB is not only an incredibly difficult physical task, it requires a clear focused mind as well.
With Story, Verdugo and JBJ starting to find their hitting stroke, together with Devers, Martinez and Bogaerts who started hot and remain hot, the Sox should be able to extend leads and win a few series and crawl back into playoff contention.

You are welcome. He is welcome. Whatever. I hope the Mariners get their act together. Crushing my soul at the end of the season is to be expected and at least tolerated. Crushing it this early in the season is unacceptable.
Don't look now, but Story just hit a grand slam that was corralled by old friend, Jonny Gomes, who was in the first row of the Monster Seats.

Last Sunday they obliterated the Gnats, and Albert Pujols pitched the 9th. This week it was a shellacking of the Pirates and Yadi Molina got HIS first ever pitching appearance. I'm digging this new Sunday tradition.

Mets win yet another series! Too bad I couldn't watch 2 of the last three games because of their RIDICULOUS broadcast deal. I pay for the &*$%# SNY channel, yet I've been blacked out of at least 6 games so far, and there is no streaming service of any kind, nor any price I can pay to anyone anywhere, to get to watch those games, short of going to a sports bar. MLB makes it seriously hard to stay a fan. Remember when every local game was on antenna for free, for like 30-40 years?

Last week they had a fairly successful little home stand, going 4-2 against the M's and Reds. That's two series wins! But at the same time it sort of felt like they lost all those games. They only scored 7 runs total across 3 games against the Reds. The Reds stink. Of course, they still won two games and that's the important thing, but I really want to see this team win games with a bit more authority. Toronto still has a winning record overall, but the negative run differential is a bit worrisome. Good teams usually score more runs than they allow.
I'm still quite confident that the offense will get going eventually, but I am losing a bit of my patience here. Keep trying to focus on the positives...

As Cards fan I'm loving seeing things like Pujols and Yadi pitch. But it's very obvious why the play infield and catcher.
Times like this, a small part of me yearns for the simpler times when the Jays were a bad team. Like, legit bad and everybody knew they would be bad. Stakes are low and you can enjoy the little victories, player development, prospect stories, transactions, etc. because you know they won't win many games. When the team is supposed to be good, analysts are picking them to maybe win the division, etc., and they disappoint like this, it is agonizing to watch! (But, on second thought, no I don't actually want them to be a bad team... just play better already!)
