MLB 2022

100%

It's high time for the umps to take care of their biz to maintain their credibility. They CAN NOT let this go unpunished. Angel needs to go, too.

Yeah, Angel has been brutal. He was terrible in a recent Phils-Brewers game, which culminated in a fantastic tirade by Kyle Schwarber who was called out on a pitch out of the zone. This led to Schwarber's ejection:

Yep...lots of bad calls from Angel when watching a past Dodger game. My wife was so mad she was jumping up and down yelling at the TV.

When you see batters from both teams turning around sporting the "what the actual ..." face all night, it's time to send Angel packing. He's a disgrace to the sport, and for the life of me I don't know why the other umps refuse to oust him themselves. He makes them ALL look bad, and undermines the integrity of the entire game in a measurable way.

Capt. Hand Squeezer should get a month off no pay. A petty fine and no games missed is a joke.

I think I saw somewhere that his umpire scorecard was 96% for that game. They need to get tougher standards.

They know how bad he is, but he has seniority. The umps don't want anything to affect that. They have a job for life. Fact is, just like a player, there are necessary physical skills, which erode as you grow older no matter how good you are or how hard you try (neither of which apply to him).

Alex Cora shaved his beard and the Red Sox bats came alive (9 runs) and they notched a 2-inning save. Either the baseball gods have been appeased for the moment, or if you are statistically inclined, the BABIP is reverting to mean. Either works for me as I am no longer on the ledge.

The Mariners are breaking my heart early. I had such high hopes for them this year and they are in a tailspin already. They usually wait until August to do this. Oh, well. Maybe they are just getting it out of their systems early.

Puhleeeeeeez. Try being a RedSox fan right about now. 30 games in and we're 10.5 games out. :wideyed:

Ugh, the Blue Jays… it's not often I say this, but I should have watched the Leafs tonight :bag:
Poor Kikuchi. He had a decent start last night. Basically a five-and-dive type of start, but he was pretty effective for five innings. Can't ask for much more than that from an end-of-the-rotation guy. They were in the lead when he got pulled, but the bullpen allowed the inherited runners to come around to score (Stanton homerun).

Kikuchi has had a bit of an unlucky spot in the rotation to start this year. These have been his opponents in his starts so far:
- NYY
- BOS
- HOU
- HOU
- NYY
- NYY

That's tough.

Yeah. Red Sox suck right now. They blow. I mean they will blow.

pardon me, working through this ….

I'm with you.
To cope, I'm calling it what it is - a bridge year. Instead of wins and losses, I'm paying attention to things like - will JBJ find his old batting stroke and be a league average hitter; is Dalbec an MLB hitter or AAAA, when will Casas be ready and will he be the real deal, will Story settle in, will there be any progress signing extensions with Bogaerts and Devers (I'd love both but would be happy with one), will anyone emerge as a closer (hopefully soon, these blown saves and bullpen losses are killing me).

This wasn't supposed to be another dismal year of waiting here in Mariner-land. Sheesh. They could have waited a few months before inflicting the usual stab wound to the heart.

The upcoming Mets series should be interesting, considering the trade. I still think Seattle will be fighting all year. I have my doubts about the Angel pitching lasting the year.
