MLB 2022

Yeah I'm preparing my brain for Houston to put him on 1st base for an inning. He's not ready for their pitchers yet.

astros also traded for mancini ... as a rental, but hopefully they can resign him as well as vasquez. so, mancini at 1st/d.h., vasquez behind the dish/d.h. brantley is likely out for the season, sadly; he is one of the good guys. alvarez goes to l.f. as a starter. click is doing a good job as g.m for the astros.

after the karmic meltdowns in '19 & '21, astros are due a w.s. victory

obtw, i noticed catillo won his first game for his new team vs. the yankees. when the yankees lose, america wins

Nah, this is the Mariners' year. The Astros have had their fun. Only problem is the Mariners have never, ever been very good at cheating. They need to figure it out to compete. Not that the Astros have had any need to cheat to beat the Mariners for the past decade or so. It used to be the other way around. I miss that other way around.

At least the Mariners won a series in Yankee Stadium for the first time since 2016 or so. It's happening.

The Astros have had their fun.

here's my take: 2017 doesn't count--vacated title. 2019 was the karma of the baseball godz, bloop popfly off the short foul pole in home game 7 (98% probability of an out off the bat). 2021 was braves' lightning in a bottle. astros were the best team all those years, but as we all know, the best team doesn't always win.

so the astros are due ... one clean and clear ring ... to erase the beltran-yankees/cora-red sox stigma, hurricane harvey, manfred sending them to play home games in milwaukee because of flooding (manfred was such an ass), the years of over 100 losses, being forced to exit the n.l., the trauma of 2005, bags and bigg choking in the playoffs, hernandez cheating them in '86, pete rose blowing up backup luis pujols in '80 , j.r. richard (best astros pitcher ever) having a friggin' stroke, don wilson dying in his garage, roger metzger nearly dying on the field (t.g. he did not), jimmy wynn never seeing the playoffs, the joe morgan trade ... it's been 62 years. my grandmother was a fan from the beginning with the colt .45s; she never lived to see them get to the world series. throw the astros one bone and we will go away forever.

thanks for reading.

still want to see the mariners in the playoffs. they are overdue. would love to see them elminate the yankees in n.y.c.

Today Ohtani hit two HRs, and overall the Angels hit seven solo HRs, but they still lost 8-7. Ouch. LAA doesn't have much pitching
Which is good, since they will be in Seattle next. The Astros seem to always beat up the Mariners, but that season series is done now. The Mariners seem to come alive against the Yankees. There are three more games in Seattle soon, if I remember right. But first the Angels. I won't be able to get to the ballpark, but I bet it will be full and rocking. This is the first game in Seattle against the Angels since the brawl. Seattle is usually fairly polite. It may be a little more like Philly or New York this series.

i love it when crazy things happen in baseball. 7 home runs and lose the game ... has that even ever happened before? must've at some point in the last 150 years ... then again, maybe it's like the weather. s.a. just had its hottest may, june, and july on record (over 150 years of records). never had back-to-back-to-back heat record setting months before.

obtw, we're a couple of days away from being the hottest year ever.

Pete Rose is a gross old man.
MLB did the right thing to distance itself from him. All of the teams he played for should do the same.
I don't care how many times you hit a baseball with a wooden stick. Being a decent human is far more important than that.

I totally agree. IMHO Rose has definitely shown he's not worthy of getting a second chance.
