The Cards are a great team!
It was a bit curious to see the lack of power from the Jays' lineup, but I'm sure it will come before long. It was also not nice to see both Manoah and Bassitt struggle in their starts, but I don't think we need to worry about either of those guys. It's early and even very reliable pitchers have occasional bad starts. That's baseball. Work out the kinks here in April and then hopefully get into a good rhythm.
This is why I almost like it better when I know my team is going to be bad

Anybody have a favorite baseball movie? I watched, "Fields Of Dreams" last night for the first time in the last 10 years or so. It is rare that my eyes tear up when watching a move, but this one always does it to me.

Nobody. Houston looks pretty much mortal, and Seattle looks bad. Both are supposed to be pretty good this season. It will even out in time. The Mariners were hitting the ball pretty hard, but right at people. Ray, who is made of iron, is now injured for what I believe is the first time in his career. Things happen. It's baseball, so it will even out.
If the pitching staff can keep it together I believe this Cards team has a chance to be better than a Cards team has been in a long time.

I *always* overreact when it's about the Mariners. That's the whole point, isn't it?
After winning on Opening Day, the Jays lost four in a row... thankfully, they won a game last night, with a solid start from Yusei Kikuchi no less! He had a terrible year last year but still showed flashes of the potential that he has. He looked great this spring and his first start was solid. Don't want to get my hopes up, but I sure hope he's figured something out.
Also saw that Teoscar hit two dingers in an M's win last night. I still wish he was a Blue Jays... even though the outfield defence is almost certainly better without him out there in RF...
When he gets hot with the bat, he's so good.

The Mariners and Jays are doing exactly the same stumble out of the gate routine. Win one, lose four, maybe get their act together. One win isn't a streak, but I'll take it. Kikuchi always did well to start the season with the Mariners, then faded into the bullpen or worse in the second half. He was even an all-star one season. I guess we are going to find out what the Jays already know about Hernandez.
My Cards are doing the same routine. I hope it just new season jitters.
My Brewers are doing the opposite. No runs in the first 16 innings, then 38 in the next 36 innings. The rookies are killing it this year, getting on base, stealing bases, and mashing home runs. They're scoring with and without home runs. The only pitcher the Mets were able to score on this week was Burnes. Go figure.
I'm just happy to see the Brewers focus on contact this year. The home runs will happen. But swinging for the fences on every pitch was not successful the last 2 seasons.
