Condolences! I grew up in Ohio and was a fan of the Big Red Machine. Then in the 1980s, I lived in NYC and went to Mets games. The tradition of rooting for a successful team hasn't followed me west just yet.

It's the All Star game tonight, and I'm about eight blocks from the stadium in the office today. I probably won't even watch on television this evening. The Mariners took three of four in Houston, which they never do any more. So, I'm not really happy with the momentum breaker. Julio put on a show, though, so there's that. I hope he goes on a tear like he did the second half of last season. If Kelenic gets going again and the rest of the team keep doing more or less what they are doing, it could be pretty entertaining.

I'll still panic, whine, and moan every time the Mariners go through a bad stretch. It's a requirement.

Sal Frelick had himself a debut for the Brewers today! 3-3, 2 RBI, 1 run, and 2 highlight reel catches at the wall. Shhh, nobody tell that kid that this game isn't supposed to be this easy.

Braves have been just not that into baseball since the break. Really disappointed. 5 losses since the break and not showing anything to suggest they’ve shaken it off. Get busy.

Stupid Mariners. Could be 2-1/2 back, but nope. At least they took the series. They need to keep winning series after series from now on if they are going to have a chance. They were something like nine games back of the Angels in '95 in August and took the west. I'm not expecting miracles, but if a miracle happened, it sure would be appreciated. Julio is having a bit of a sophomore slump and Kelenic tailed off and now broke his foot. Jeez, guys!

The Rockies staged a comeback for a couple of weeks, but still have injuries popping up. High priced Kris Bryant now has a broken finger. Last year he played about 45 games with various ow-wees and this year he has been on the IR list twice and played 65 games so far. The payroll math on the home runs he has hit in the last two years (he's supposed to be a gr4eat slugger) works out to about $3.5 million per homer.

The Rockies are willing to spend $ to bring in talent, they just can't find talent that can stay healthy or still remember how to play baseball. It's disappointing.

What, 10 or so game lead in their division ? Best win % in the game as well.

I'd say they're in the hunt !
