Noon today, Mariners-Padres in the cactus league. The first step toward the World Series ring we all know the Mariners will land this season. I'm actually pretty excited about this season, not just full of bluster like usual. The team has its flaws, but it has pitching and more pitching for the moment. If they can hit consistently, it will be a pretty nice change. It will also mean they could win far more than 90 games this season.
A Mariners vs Cards World Series would be fun. We'd win of course.
Nope. Mariners win, bottom of the ninth, walk off home run by Jared Kelenic, his first hit in the Series. Roof open on a fairly balmy night. I know this. My cloudy plastic crystal ball never lies.
M's fans have great imaginations! Which is of course good when your team has never won a World Series 
Jokes aside, if it is not the Blue Jays winning a WS this season, then I would love to see our expansion cousins in Seattle win it instead. If/when the Jays disappoint me yet again this summer, I will be ready and happy to jump on the Seattle bandwagon.

I'm watching the first game of the spring. I like the rules so far. The pace is much better (reminds me of games when I was young). It's also nice seeing line drives to right field being hits again - not ground outs to the second basman playing in shallow right field.
What's also nice is the clock isn't intrusive. It's not being shown on television.

I collect baseball cards. My collection includes every Brewer from Topps flagship cards (for instance, Series 1&2 and Update sets recently), different player collections, and Topps team portrait cards.
I usually get cards three times a year, sometimes four. When Topps Series 1 comes out (around spring training), Topps Series 2 (mid summer), and when the Topps Update set comes out (after the World Series). Sometimes I get some around Christmas as well.
Anyway, today's haul reminded me of @Gaolee, @yodedude2 , and @thisheregiraffe.

I agree with the pitch clock. It seemed unobtrusive while watching the Brewer game. The broadcast did have it on the bottom right, but it was easy to dismiss. The pace of the game was nice. The hitters can't step out and readjust every piece of equipment between every pitch, and the pitchers can't take laps around the mound.
Speaking of the pitch clock, Braves v Red Sox ended in a tie due to the batter not being ready in time. Here's a good and brief look at the situation:
Look at the situation at 0:29. Bases loaded, bottom of the 12th, one out. All 4 infielders on the right side of the infield. A professional hitter should be able to end this game 90% of the time or more. Put the ball in play on the third base side. As long as it gets by the pitcher, the winning run scores, game over. You can't hit the ball the other way? Work on it in batting practice. You are an elite hitter. Figure it out. The hitter ended up rolling over the ball and hitting it into the shift for a play at the plate.
I get why there is an uproar, but lets be honest: I'm not going to watch a 5 hour baseball game that's only 9 innings.

Didn't know that. Actually, I've been a radio only guy for sometime other than the playoffs. Which I mute
I'm convinced most TV folks get paid by the word, not the quality and a lot of them could never do radio.
The fact that some of them get promoted to TV doesn't prove much

The Mariners lost again last night, but I'm not so concerned about that. It's spring training. The good thing is that Kelenic is actually hitting pretty well. If that keeps up, it's a very good sign. Conventional wisdom is that Seattle is a bat away from contending with the Astros for the west. If Kelenic turns into a decent hitter instead of the automatic out he's been most of the time, maybe they have that bat.
