Yesterday Tyler O'Neill homered in Baltimore's blowout win against Toronto. I didn't realize until reading this later that it was a significant HR because it marked six straight Opening Day HRs for O'Neill. I love esoteric stats like that 🤪 Wonder if he can do it again next year? I was driving and listening to the game on the radio when he hit that HR. It was a real crack of the bat! Came through the radio loud and clear. I love that sound. Just wish it had come off a Blue Jay bat.

The dog probably is a Mariners fan, just anticipating late August. But for now, the Mariners are undefeated!

Jorge Polanco sure looked like he was back in All-Star form last night. Three for three with the go-ahead, to-run home run in the eighth. The sacrifice bunt with one out was a bit of a bizarre decision, but I guess he was trying to do an Ichiro and bunt for a base hit. Ryan Bliss is the real thing. 0 for 2 but with two walks, a stolen base, and almost a steal of home. He beat the throw on a passed ball, but didn't get his foot on the plate. Funny how that works. If you don't touch the plate, you don't score. Logan Gilbert had a typical outing. Brilliant but no decision because the Mariners didn't hit while he was pitching. Julio was on base once, but didn't hit anything. It's early. He never hits early, but I don't like seeing him strike out. He seems to have lost the spectacular eye for balls and strikes that he had as a rookie.

Yeah, it's only one game, but the Mariners have the best record in the AL, more or less! That's going to last at least until sometime this evening. World Series, here we come!

Gotta love the weirdness and useless stats that are the whole essence of baseball. This time of year is great. Every team is a contender for at least a week or two.

It was raining in Seattle last night, and the roof was closed. The retractable roof is amazing. Here's some trivia - I know a couple of the engineers who designed it. One has retired and the other is probably going to retire pretty soon.

The Yankees hit nine home runs yesterday! Really beat the snot out of the Brewers 😂 One HR shy of the Jays' record of ten in a game as a team.

The Jays picked up their first win in game #2 of the season - yay! - then dropped yesterday's game. Scherzer didn't look super sharp in first start for the Jays. Today the series vs. Baltimore wraps. I'd be very happy with a W and a 2-2 split against the O's.

Also the Dodgers are 5-0. Great start. They might win a lot of games this year!

That was a very depressing opening weekend. The Brewers are obviously a minor league team compared to the Yankees, and that's not going to change any time soon. Even drawing 2 million fans, our gross revenue is not as much as the Yankees roster payroll. The gap between the haves and have-nots is getting wider. I don't see Milwaukee having in team in ten years.

So far the SFGiants look pretty good. Great defense and good pitching. Hitting with runners on is still not great, but they managed to take the first series against the Red 2-1. It is a long season with lots of baseball to go.
I know the stinking Dodgers are 5-0, the Padres are 4-0 and the D-Backs are 2-2. Like I said it is a long season with plenty of baseballl to play.
Looking forward to see how Jordan Hicks pitches against the Astros today.

I hope Milwaukee can keep the team. MLB has to figure it out.

Well, the Dodgers are off to a nice start. It has been a tough beginning for Sasaki though. It was very disappointing that some fans booed when he left the game Saturday in the second inning. His control was way off. He’s only 23 and is under a lot of pressure to perform. He’ll get there.

The Mariners still cannot hit. When the staff is perfect, they can win. When they give up runs, the obvious happens. Same as ever. But at least Julio broke the ice with his first absurd homer for the season. I hope they don't wait until the last few weeks of the season to give their pitching some run support.
