That's just karma, so it's inevitable. But the zen of a baseball season says they are undefeated in the regular season. They are saving up hits and wins for when they need them and are not wasting them in Arizona.

The third oldest park in MLB but still one of the prettiest. I always liked that the left and right field fences are symmetric and not a jigsaw puzzle like some fields..

It was an off day for the Mariners. I have nothing to carp about. Julio isn't hitting yet, but then he isn't playing much yet. The kids in the minors are tearing the cover off the baseball for the Mariners. Maybe they should all be promoted and all the guys who thought they were major leaguers should be in triple A for a tuneup.
It truly is. And the current ownership makes annual improvements every year to keep it that way.
Yep, this off season the ownership invested over $100 million with enlarging the home and visitors clubhouses. The only way to do this was by removing many thousands of yards of earth and expanding the clubhouses under the left and right playing fields so now the clubhouses are subterranean.
What is sad is how Anaheim has ignored the stadium down in the OC. It was nice when they redid it after the Rams left. But it is getting kind of shabby now.
He isn't wrong. But then who was available at an even semi-reasonable price? And, every time they have tried to do that, whoever they got has had a career awful season. It was time to not make some splashy move and see what can happen with the new coaching staff and the people coming up from the farm. It could end out of the playoffs, but that's no change. Crazy is doing the same thing over and over again, and they aren't doing that for once. So, I'm ok with it.
On a different note, the pitchers seem to be going through their dead arm period. Julio has started hitting, so that's good to see. If he gets off to a decent start for a change, it will set the tone for the whole season.
But I do find the Boston (BOBON), Houston (ASHOS), and Texas (TETAS) to be quite amusing. Why do this

Lots of bargains out there. Quintana (solid starter) at $4 million, Iglesias at $3 million (great defense at every infield position, hit .327), He Seong Kim 2 years at 29, Profar 3 at 42. All of those could have improved their team. Frankly, there is no reason why they don't overspend for a bat. They have great starting pitching at bargain prices. I'd love to see them win the division.
The AL West is a vulgar place. Except in Seattle, where we are virtuous and all.

That's fine, since they will be able to get it on track in A and AA ball. Some maybe in AAA, but most of them are people I have never heard of and who aren't on any top prospects list.

Dodgers take the Tokyo Series to start the regular season 2-0. Now both teams get back to some more Spring Training games before the whole league properly kicks off the regular season next week. It's a weird scheduling quirk.
I am completely uninterested in Spring Training now and all I want is for Opening Day to get here before anybody gets hurt in the last bit of ST games. OK, there is one more thing I want: Next week the Jays have three days with nothing on the schedule between their last ST game and the Opening Day. Sit down with Vlad and get a deal done please!

A friend of mine in Chicago scheduled a trip to Japan around the games. Here are a couple of his pics. He said the crowd was, unsurprisingly, about 90% Dodgers.
Also, at least a couple of famous faces were there.

It was good to see LA win even without Freeman and Mookie playing. Mookie had a GI illness and Freeman was injured in batting practice.
