Cubs' home opener this afternoon! They've been feasting on bad teams post-Japan, but today they host the Padres.

I watched a documentary last night on the Cubs connection to Southern California or specifically to their local history on Catalina Island.
Since at the time, Wrigley owned all of the Island, the Cubs would have their spring training in the town of Avalon for 30 years from 1921 to 1951.
Even to this day, many of the local islanders are still fans of the Cubs. I bet must Cub fans have no idea of this history of the Cubs and SoCal.

And don't forget the mainland Wrigley Field in South Central where the Cubs' minor league Angels played. The major league Angels played there their first season. It was a cool old park. I remember we drove by it a few times when I was a kid before it was torn down.

I'm getting back into baseball again after taking a few years off due to a bunch of different reasons mostly since the 2020 season. I was a diehard season ticket holder of the SF Giants from 1987-2006 and kept following them after I moved out of state through their WS runs and 107 win season in 2021. It all quickly fell apart for me with MLB creating new rules changes as well as internal management/ownership issues with the Giants. I've kinda put all the past me and am really enjoying this season so far being 8-1 with a whole new front office running this club that seems to have a brought a new life to it again. Anyhow, I'm really excited and happy at this 8-1 start to the season so far. Beat LA! :p

Yup, the Giants are in fist place in the NL West right now, just percentage points over L.A. They also have the best record in MLB. The season has just begun and lots of things can change but it is a great start for them.
I like the chemistry of the team and the way they play, a fun team to watch. (So Far :bag:)
