Checking in on the Rockies and what kind of terrible record they are on pace for… 😬

Last season, after a loss (duh) on July 4th, the White Sox had a record of 25-64.

This season, after a loss on July 4th (to the White Sox!!!), the Rockies’ record is 20-68. The White Sox meanwhile are 29-59. Still very bad, but slightly better than last year. A passing of the baton.

Just looked up the Cubs on Wiki and they're over 11,000. There are a few others with 10k as well.

Well, a tough weekend at the Ravine with the Cheatros taking all three. With the surging Muncy out with a bone bruise in his knee, the Dodgers got embarrassed 18-1 in the series opener. Last night and today were also disappointing. Oh well. Brewers and Giants coming up on a six game road trip before the break.

Yeah, the Dodgers didn't do the Mariners any favors. The Mariners won three by shutout. And Houston continues to win. Dammit.

My Blue Jays are on an 8-game winning streak. A perfect 7-0 on last week's home stand! 🤩

What's left on Toronto's schedule before the All-Star break: 3 games at Chicago White Sox; off-day; 3 games at Sacramento A's. These could be classic trap games. The boys better not play down to the competition. Beat up on these bad teams and go into All-Star on a 14-game winning streak!

The Tigers magic number, any combination of 55 Tiger Wins or Guardian, Twinkies, Royals losses and the Tigers win the division. It is conceivable the Tigers could win the division by AUG 15! This is as much an acknowledgment of the Tigers greatness as the rest of the divisions fall from any progress. They still need pitching depth (who doesn't) and left side of the infield starter. But they may have the best defensive outfield in the majors, and the best arm at Catcher of anyone. They also have no easy outs. And their top four started Skubal, Mize, Olsen, and Flahrety may be as good as anyones. I like their chances.

Jays... lose!? Haven't said that in a while. The 10-game winning streak was great while it lasted, but you've gotta lose one eventually. Today is an off-day, then three games in Sacramento over the weekend before the All Star break. I'm not sure what to expect out of this A's series. The Jays are the better team and should win the games. But it's a road series in an unfamiliar minor league ballpark. Sometimes silly stuff happens. I just don't want to see any injuries. During the COVID years when the Jays had to play their home games in Buffalo and then Dunedin, they definitely got away with some cheeky wins against superior teams.

Everyone is battered and tired heading into the All Star Break. Well designed timing by MLB for the break, I think. These guys have been going full tilt since March. Just a couple of days of rest back home and then the hard part starts: finish the season strong and then playoffs. Don't ever blink now. Plenty of previously strong teams have fallen off after this point. Strong contenders that the press and MLB trumpet touted all year as The Ones Who Will Take It All suddenly become human and injuries change the calculus completely. MLB is relentless and you better keep up or your team suddenly is in the tank.
