I thought it was a great game too ... until the Jays' bullpen had a 9th inning meltdown
I felt bad for Jeff Hoffman. I think Jays fans were booing him. He's had a few rough outings but overall he's been effective most of the time. Booing the guy isn't going to make him better.
Excitement at the Giants/Rockies game yesterday. Rockies pitcher Freeland got a little precious at Devers hitting a 2-run home run off of him in the 2nd (seriously, Devers) and started lipping off enough to get his ass thrown out. Of course, Giants Chapman and Adamas laid hands on the guy so they were tossed as well. Melvin had to get creative filling in two holes at 1st and 3rd for the remainder of the game.
In the end, It took 10 minutes for the umps to sort everything out enough to finally have Devers round the bases.
That makes it 100 losses for the Rockies this year. I have felt for the Rockies all season but I watched this game and they can stuff this one in their jockeys. Freeland deserved the L last night. His tantrum cost his team yesterday.

Some were booing. I was disappointed in that, as were several fans. There was an older couple a few rows ahead of us who were not happy at all. That was a miserable three games. On to Atlanta where I sure hope things turn around.
Well, the Braves have been having difficulty finding their arses with both both hands and a road map(or GPS these days).

Let's hope they stay lost. Loster than the Mariners, anyway. The Astros have been stinking up the joint, and the Mariners have been making sure it does them no harm. Oh, well. We are used to it.

Big weekend coming up for Toronto and the AL East division race. The Jays are in NY for three games vs. the Yankees. Currently, NYY and BOS are 3.0 and 3.5 games back of the Jays respectively. A sweep at the hands of the Yanks would be a very bad thing. I welcome all of you here in TB's MLB thread aboard the Jays bandwagon for the weekend!
Meanwhile, the Red Sox are just beginning a six-game road trip. Arizona this weekend and then Sacramento. Boston is not a strong road team, and the Dbacks are still a decent squad, so I am hoping for Boston to drop a few games this weekend. Asking the A's to steal some games from Boston after that seems a bit much. But you never know in baseball. It feels a bit icky to have to cheer for the A's after the whole Vegas saga, not that it's the players' faults...
A’s fans checking in. Icky is right. We love the team and root for the A’s but we despise the owner John Fisher. My wife watches almost every game.
It sucks because we’d go to games and support the team as we do with our other local teams but there is no way in good conscience we are willingly giving Fisher a half-penny of honest money that was earned by us.

I saw a clip of Fisher walking on the infield the other day and obviously not surprising, that ALL the fans there were booing and cussing him out relentlessly. I am a lifelong Giants fan since '86 but did have season tickets to A's games as well from '88 -'98. The Coliseum was a nice place to watch baseball before Al Davis absolutely ruined with that monstrosity in the outfield and then Fisher took over. I completely feel for all you A's fans over this entire insane debacle and move to LV. The Haas family ran the team correctly for the most part as opposed to John Fisher who couldn't even run a gas station correctly with his brains imo.
And then they swept the Dodgers. Gotta hand it to them for not giving up..
The Dodgers and Padres seem to be falling all over themselves to see who can lose the most games in September.
And the Brewers are showing they’re the real deal.

I lived in Sac for a few years in the eighties and enjoyed driving over to games.
The Pirates are over .500 since the managerial change and are headed in the right direction. That said, they need much more production at the plate. The starting rotation has been pretty good to great all this year, but they just could not score any runs. Earlier this year they fielded teams where 7 out of 9 batters that were hitting below the Mendoza (also a Pirate) line. And their bullpen was terrible.
As for team management, they absolutely need to fire the GM Ben Charington. While the major league team is showing at least a little something at the moment, their farm system is totally devoid of potential major league talent, and nobody that can hit worth beans.
