Urías was the last twenty game winner. Not a fan. It’ll be interesting to see if he ever returns to MLB.
I thought Peralta had a shot this year, but that hope has all but faded.
Moyer had an 80 mph fastball, but he could place it anywhere it needed to be. And then he had slow stuff. I never understood why teams didn't steal a zillion bases whenever he pitched. A three toed sloth could get from first to second faster than a Jamie Moyer pitch could get to the plate.
We're packing for our trip to Toronto. We'll be at the game on Saturday. I'm hoping the Brewers get back to the way they were a couple weeks ago. They won the last two games, but their six run leads weren't safe in either game. In any case, we'll be seeing the Brewers in another stadium, which is always fun.

I think a Dodgers/Brewers NLCS would be fun.
So the Dodgers swept a decent Reds team that has been striving to get in the wildcard race. Finally 20 above 500. Unfortunately, Freddie is listed aa maybe back Saturday with a “neck stinger.” Snakes up next.
20 over .500 would win the AL West. Neither the Mariners nor the Astros seem to be able to get it in gear reliably for now. I hope that stays true for the Astros. Not for the Mariners. There is one last long east coast swing for the Mariners, starting tonight in Cleveland. They have had a number of long, arduous road trips this season. That may have ground them down a bit, but no excuses. This road trip is against teams that are all at or under .500 so far this season. They have a series against the Astros and a series against the Dodgers, but other than that, they should have a relatively soft schedule as long as they don't play down to the level of their opponents. They end the season against the Rockies at home. Can't beat that for a soft landing, provided they don't blow it.
Giants took 2 of 3 from Brewers and then just came home to sweep the Cubs... Well that certainly was not on my bingo card for this past week lol. Winning is kind of fun.

The Jays are hosting the Brewers. That’s gonna be tough. Meanwhile the Red Sox are playing the Pirates and the Yankees are playing the White Sox. Perfect chance for Boston and NY to gain some ground in the division race if Toronto gets beat down by the Brew Crew. Could be a stressful watch for me

The Mariners are stinking up a road trip. The one blessing is that they end the season at home. Against the Rockies.
A month or so ago I didn't think the Cards could get much worse. I was wrong!
Well, the Pirates finally have eliminated themselves from the playoffs yesterday. Congrats Mr Nutting. You have now an extra month to swing your budget axe and man your team with more minor league level talent. I’m sure he’s salivating at the prospect. I keep waiting for the for sale sign outside of PNC park. “For sale one lightly used Paul Skenes. Generational talent. First $750 million wins the prize”. “Oh, and two of your worst minor league prospects.”.
Not including March, they’ve had one great month (May). The rest has been .500 or worse. And July was very bad. Basically the inverse of what they did in May. Probably not much left to cheer for in September unfortunately. Except player development stories and maybe playing spoiler against division rivals.
Cubs fell 9 games behind the Brewers for the division thanks to a slump while Milwaukee went on an unbelievable hot streak. They've whittled the deficit to 5.5, but unless the Brewers have a historically bad skid Chicago's looking at a wild card spot. Right now they're 10 games ahead of the #4 contender for the wild card (the Giants), so hopefully they're in good shape.
Our trip to Toronto was incredible. We got to see a great game (4-1 Brewer win on Saturday), the stadium was beautiful, and you couldn't ask for better weather. We'll be back some day. Now the Brewers need to get back on track in time for the playoffs.
