MLB 2025

Jays win! Ten years since they last won the division in 2015. Tied with NYY for best record in the AL but Toronto is bestest because of the magical tie-breaker. Yankees fans probably won’t be happy that their squad is seeded 4th despite having a better record than all the other AL teams. I’m glad it didn’t go the other way and the Jays were in that position 😅
Congrats!

At this point, that last game doesn't much matter. It will be practice for both teams as they head into the playoffs. The Mariners need to stay sharp since they will get close to a week off.
Since Kershaw pitched yesterday, they’re leaving him off the upcoming series roster. With a suddenly deep set of starters, that’s a luxury that we couldn’t really expect back in July and August. Things fell into place for once.

The Wild Card round begins today! 🤩 Who do you guys have advancing to the Division Series?

Tigers @ Guardians
The Guards really played well in September. But they struggled to score runs for the rest of the season. It’s not a great lineup overall. Was September the real deal or just a mirage? The Tigers played unexpectedly poorly in September. But maybe they bounce back in October? I dunno. I guess I pick Cleveland to advance based on their September results but I don’t feel confident about it. I don’t enjoy watching them very much 😐

Padres @ Cubs
Both teams have been consistently good since July, although the Cubs’ more recent run production numbers aren’t quite as high as early in the season. I think they are a bit more banged up than the Dads. It’s a shame one team will have to go home so early in October. I think San Diego advances.

Red Sox @ Yankees
I hope this series goes the full three games and that these teams wear each other out so the winner has no juice left for the ALDS 😂😁 The first two games should have some good starting pitching match ups though. If the starters do their jobs then maybe the bullpens will be spared. The Sox have handled NYY fairly well this season. But the Yanks will advance if they can hit enough HRs at the right times. They were by far #1 in MLB with 274 HRs as a team. Curious to see if Judge turns into a pumpkin in October again. It will be a bad look if he wins MVP and has another poor postseason performance.

Reds @ Dodgers
Kudos to the Reds for getting to the WC. I am genuinely looking forward to watching Hunter Greene make a postseason start and to see if De La Cruz will do something exciting in the postseason. But the Dodgers will win this series pretty comfortably I think.

Good analysis... can't argue and won't!

I'd go a little differently.

Tigers have an edge in pitching. Though their collapse has been troubling. But I really like the Guardians manager and their radio announcer...that's a perfect reason to pick them, right?

I'm a Cubs fan, so pulling for them. But I'm nervous.

Boston-NYY? Agree... three straight extra inning games and exhaust your pitching staffs.. I don't care if they just do that.

Dodgers have too much horsepower and a rejuvenated pitching staff. Yet...the Reds have Tito Francona calling the shots.

My 2c. And each October, my pick is usually the Kiss of Death!

Not having a dog in the race or a horse in the hunt, I'll just watch whatever games are on and give my usual cheer:
"Wait'll next year!"

The Tigers should be the favourite in this series based on most of the season… but oh man they were awful on September 😬 I was tempted to pick them as the winner regardless. Cleveland has been impressive recently though. I dunno. Whichever way it goes, I really doubt either of these teams is getting past the ALDS. Seattle is a better team than either Detroit or Cleveland.
