OK, that's pretty good. My only quibbles are: 1. The Cubs have only won one title in the past 100+ years, the Sawx (and the Giants) have three! Plus the Mariners have been around for a relatively short 48 years. 2. The Padres have Machado, so boooooo!

He was barely a winning pitcher when he won the Cy Young. That just shows how good he was and how awful the teams were. 2001, when the Mariners steamrolled the regular season, they flamed out without a whimper in the playoffs. I hope they get farther than one round this time. Getting past two rounds means the World Series. I plan to be absolutely insufferable if the Mariners win the World Series. At least until next season when it will be their year again. Until it isn't.Early 2010’s wasn’t exactly the best time for being an M’s fan, except for getting to see King Felix and Ichiro do their thing. I guess it was the 2010 season when Felix won the Cy Young award despite the team having like 100 losses

It would be a good matchup, but the outcome would be the other way around. Really. You read it here first. Probably in seven. Mitch Garver will finally earn his keep by hitting a walk-off in the bottom of the nineth in the seventh game in front of an empty stadium. The fans of both teams will all be long since dead from massive heart attacks.

Guards and Dads force Game #3. Yanks took an early lead. We’re gonna have some ball games to watch tomorrow! 
A walk-off in Game 7 would be a Brewer walk-off, so I'm good with that. I'm not sure if I can take the stress leading up to it, though.

I would honestly rather see Detroit win and advance to the ALDS, but after over-thinking it and convincing myself that Cleveland was more likely to win, I feel compelled to cheer for the Guards. My desire to be right is taking over
Good on the Reds for giving it a go against the Dodgers. They scored a decent number of runs on them. Unfortunately the Dodgers were able to score twice as many runs off Reds' pitching 
LA is now game planning for their series with Philly. Smart of them to finish up the Wild Card series as quickly as possible.

I think all these guys are going to be on short leashes today! Not a lot of really great pitchers in the mix here. It's sad to see how poorly Yu Darvish has pitched this year. But he's 38 years old and been around a long time now. His starts were appointment viewing during his years with Texas. So good.
Boston and New York both have rookies taking the hill. Combined they've made less than 20 big league starts. Early is 23 years old and Schlittler is 24. Can't help but wonder if the lights will be just a little too bright for them in the postseason. It will be a great learning experience for them regardless of the results. It will be a great story if one of them pitches well and factors into a long postseason run for their team.

In all cases, these pitchers are the #3s on their respective staffs. You're a #3 because you CAN be good sometimes but you are not always good...otherwise you'd be a #1. Thus, as in almost all baseball games at all levels, the games will hinge on the specific performances of these pitchers.
And...
The games will hinge on the managerial decisions on when to pull them, what matchups work or don't work for their bullpens and the timing thereof. We saw that with Aaron Boone pulling Max Fried too early the other day and with Craig Counsel leaving Imanaga in too long yesterday. That's why they make the big bucks....

I'm hoping the Cubs' bats wake up today! They're due after scoring 3 and 0. Hopefully they can get to Yu early. Taillon is pretty solid for a 3rd starter, but as noted above he's not the most consistent.
Of the guys going today, I'd probably feel most confident about Taillon giving his team a quality start. Most of his September starts were solid performances. The issue for the Cubs, like you say, is the lineup isn't giving their pitchers enough run support. In one game in September against the Reds, Taillon gave the team 7 innings with only 1 run allowed... And the Cubs lost that game 1-0
Sadly, going up against Darvish could be the cure the Cubs' batters need. He's basically a "five and dive" guy at best this season, typically with 3 or 4 earned runs allowed. I would absolutely love it if he could be vintage Yu Darvish just one more time today, because he's so fun to watch when he's got all his pitches working. I don't know if it's in the cards though.
