MLB 2025

Indeed! With the 2-3-2 format in the best-of-7 series, Seattle is decidedly in the driver's seat now. Still lots of ball left though. I am a bit worried, but still feel hopeful that Toronto can turn it around. They have to win at least 2 (preferably all 3) games in Seattle though. Much easier said than done considering how strong the M's pitching staff is. But the Jays are capable of doing it even if it feels unlikely now. If Seattle wins Game #3 then I will really begin to feel hopeless.
Garver has seen a team that was up 2-0 like the Mariners come very close to blowing it. Texas almost failed in exactly the same situation when he was with them. He will remind everyone, not that guys like Polanco, Rodriguez, Raleigh, or Naylor are likely to ever let off. Crawford is being sneaky effective at the the plate for now, too. That's a good sign. He was hot to start the year and then cooled way off.

As far as pitching, the Mariners are mostly healthy for the first time this season. As long as nobody breaks down, the pitching should be pretty good. I don't especially want to see Hancock again, though. I would sure like to see Harry Ford get into a game sometime or another, but I seriously doubt that will happen.

I'm not going to try to get downtown to work for the next three days. The office is a fairly short walk from the stadium, which means parking will be absurdly expensive. The motorcycle has a damaged innertube. I haven't been able to get the tire off the wheel (long story), so the bike is not an option. Oh, well. Life could be worse. If the Mariners win the next two, I guess I can venture downtown on Friday, but I'm sure not counting on it.

I hope we see the George Kirby we saw a week ago, not the George Kirby who had an awful ERA during the season.

As long as he stays hot. I may need to stop changing socks too.
Careful with them, though. I'm pretty sure my socks are conspiring to start riots, burn couches, and generally cause mayhem. I have been keeping them in a secure, locked place to preserve the peace around here. They beat up work boots and are now attacking motorcycle boots. You know it's bad when they start doing that.

What a start by Yamamoto last night! As much as I love the way the Jays and Brewers have played the game this season, all signs seem to be pointing to an M's @ Dodgers World Series. When healthy, Seattle and LA might have two of the best overall pitching staffs in the league. Even with lineups as good as Toronto and Milwaukee have, sometimes there isn't an answer to elite pitching.

Having said all that, we know that Toronto will be turning the bus around tonight in Seattle and getting right back into the series! Watch out M's fans.

The hot and cold bats as well as the shakey bull pen will be the demise of this year's Jays.
Fishheadjoe
Those exact factors were the demise of the Phils. They actually scored more runs than the Dodgers in the Division Series, but eight of them were in one game. Otherwise the bats were largely cold. And of course we know what happened with the 'pen in game four. Kerkering's brutal error to end the game got the most attention, but Duran's bases-loaded walk was equally damaging.

What's worse for a team - playing more games, or going a week without playing any games?
I'm beginning to think my wager on a Jays/Brewers WS may have been unwise.

The Dodgers, who currently have a shaky bullpen, game strategy had changed to go back and play old school baseball. Last night's win against the Brewers, Yamamoto pitched all nine innings allowing only one lead off HR in the first inning. In game one, Snell pitched eight complete innings allowing only one hit, ten strikeouts and no walks. I like this. Over past years, it seems like starter pitching has changed to only pitch the first five or six inning and limited to no more than 100 pitches.

Man, I've heard that narrative all season and as a Giants fan I wish it was true. I haven't seen a shaky bullpen in the postseason at all from LA. Quite the opposite in fact.

Buck the Fodgers
Since the all-star break. the Dodger BP closers have blown a lot of saves. Closer,Tanner Scott, had more blown saves than any other reliever in both MLB leagues.

Tonight the Jays are starting Shane Bieber. Tomorrow they have Scherzer as the probable starter. This would have been a really good 1-2 combo about 6 years ago! In 2025... it gets a bit dicey. Nevertheless, Toronto will win both of these games and completely flip the narrative in this series. The M's have never been to the World Series before. The team will be under immense pressure to not blow this opportunity in front of the hometown fans! Regrettably, they will blow it. The Jays have them right where they want them  😁

Your pathological optimism is almost at my level. You have been studying to be a Mariners fan, we can all tell. Except that it will not be that way. The Mariners will take two home games. Which two? I don't know.
