MLB 2026

Stupid Cardinals
Seems to be effective for you Cards fans.

I've enjoyed listening to both Albert Pujols and Anthony Rizzo on the broadcast. Solid guys, both.

Sidenote: I name each of my basses, using a baseball theme for each. Just a shorthanded way of referring to each. The five-string that really got me hooked on fivers I named "Albert"... i looked for my favorite player who wore the number 5... Pujols was the man.

Cubs have work to do...

Series win at home against a division rival. How dare they!
Stupid Cards!
What happens if I say Stupid Mariners and a Mets fan says Stupid Mets? Does the superstition cancel itself out? Do I have to say Brilliant Mets to wash away the Stupid so the Mariners win?

My feet already smell awful from not changing socks, so how far does this baseball superstition thing go? I'm certainly not going to test it, at least not unless the Mariners lose. Then it will be time to shave, change underwear, and all that.

Stupid Baseball.

Hoo boy, am I glad this is online and not in person.😷

On the the hot stove. The LA Checkbooks won the series. I don't even feel like letting LA bask in it for a week before moving on to 2026. Spring training starts in February.

The Mariners could win it all in 2026. Their pitching was injured off an on all year and they were still an eyelash short. Naylor is a huge priority. I am less sure about Polanco and Suarez. Williamson is a vacuum cleaner at 3rd, and he is a slick fielding, light hitting 3rd baseman. Just like Edgar Martinez was early in his career. Second is a bit more problematic. I do not see Polanco signing for what the Mariners are likely to offer. Suarez may take a reasonable contract. Arozarena is frustrating at times, but he is a beast when he is on. Robles was fantastic until he got hurt. If he can stay healthy and recover his early season form, the outfield is set.

Crawford started fast then disappeared. I like him a lot, but I wonder if the Mariners might have an upgrade at short in the works.

Julio will leave the station like a long freight train. Slowly. As always. That is a given. The bottom of the order needs to hit. If they had managed a random base hit, the Mariners would have been in the Series.

Pitching? Small changes and better health is all they need.

This is longer than the usual initial MLB post. My optimism doesn't seem so pathological for a change. At least not to me.
My Pirates currently sitting a # 7 on the MBL power Ranking list this far a long in the season is almost too hard on my coronary condition.

Just a couple of notes: If they had a better bull pen they’d be in the top five and a serious contender for a World Championship; Skeens and Connor have got to be teo of the hottest young pups in the game; it looks like the Andy Haines ( batting coach that was fired last year) effect “it’s ok to look at called 3rd strikes with the bat on your shoulder” has dissipated ; and to that point, it also appears that after 5 years at the helm, GM Cherington figured out that scoring runs is actually a good idea , and FINALLY brought in a couple of guys that can actually hit the ball…

It’s still early, but as long as they don’t pay too much attention to the analytics department, who’s errors in judgement had several assured victories tossed into the jaws of defeat, they should be fine. However as we know from past seasons, there is the annual Fire Sale coming up at the trading deadline where the FO is standing by ever vigilant to cut costs, wins be dammed.
