Modulus Mob

Thanks man - it took 11 months, but this is exactly what I wanted.

Congrats man, she's perfect. I am in Southern Caifornina now but will be back on 12/1 and fortunately have a gig that night where I will bust out my Q5 with brand new strings. I will miss not playing that bass for the next week! Would love to check out your bass some time on the Cape.

Enjoy

Dustin, I initially ordered it through Alpha Audio Works in CT. Due to the issues with the original bass (posted on the previous page), I ended up working with Modulus directly to get everything sorted out. It took a bit longer than I may have liked, but Anderson and Joe are both awesome guys, and I'm stoked with the final product.

Pete, where's the gig? I keep meaning to get out and see you guys, but it's usually on a night when I've got to be up early for work the next day (I've dug the videos I've seen though, especially that recent "Bodhisatva" - super tight!). I'm living in Bourne currently, but drive to Hyannis daily for work - hopefully we'll get to meet up soon.

Dustin, from my experience they (Anderson) prefer you go through a dealer initially and for payment, but are happy to work with you directly during the build process to get your custom specifications correct.

I'm still most pleased with my stealthy unlined fretless VJ.

Lol the pics of your bass are why I got the exact same bass (lined). Now I'm thinking about investing in a white VJ with all black hardware/pickguard :)

The exact same? John East J-Retro, Delano Pickups and FCH bridge?

White VJ with all black, hmmm... reminds me of Hutch's pair of Modulus basses, one all black and one white. Spy vs. Spy? Should look killer though, you going to get a fretted model this round?

Sorry not the complete same under the hood - just the same looking. Definitely going fretted again. Fretless just didn't fit my tone or play nice with my effects. Gods I love modulus!

Hey Man,

Sandwich BBC 12/1 Sat , night I return from San Diego, CA. Would be fun to hang.

well guys, it's been an honor to have been a member of the mob, but I'm afraid i must retire my number for the moment. I traded my Q5 to another TBer who should have it within a day or two now.
I loved that bass, but It isn't have the sound I've been after lately- that and I'm playing mostly upright these days. I'd love to own another Q5 (or a Q6- those are sexy!) some day. Till then I'll keep lurking in this thread, GASsing hard.

Hey guys I just had the Fodera Standard Preamp installed in my Modulus Quantum 6 and let me say this... It is the most amazing sounding preamp on this earth!!!! It really has brought my bass to life. This bass was given to me by Oteil Burbridge so it already had something special about it but now it is just awesome! The two mid knobs low and high make the biggest difference in the world with the bridge pickup. And man when u roll the neck pickup and the treble up you get the most killing slap sound Ive ever heard. Also having the active/passive switch is a must!!! I can get such a great vintage sound now!!!! Ive had the privelege of playing alot of great Modulus' however to my ears none compare to this tonally... I will try to put up a video soon..

Hope to see you back in the fold one day! Till then your # is still valid as an alumnus.

Aww, that's too bad- your tone with the Bart setup was insane, Taylor. I'm sure it still is.

I went with an East in my Q6, and for me it's perfect. (Although I don't really dig the passive tone on the Q6. But then I don't like it on most basses, save for my Fodera.)

At angus- I feel like all of the weaknesses of my bart setup have simply been improved by the fodera. Before I felt my bridge pickup didn't sound ballsy enough and now it is more ballsy than I could have ever imagined. Do u guys think I should do a video showing the different tones the preamp can achieve? Also do you guys think i would like emgdc's better than
My bartolinis?
