Modulus Mob

Anyone heard of Modulus producing basses with pickups dimensions different from the usual EMGs DC ?
A folk is selling Barts pickups from his Q5, but they are Bartolini BC5C which are definately smaller than the DCs.
Any idea anyone ?

Absolutely. Lots of Moduli have this size pickup. It does make it a little harder to swap out pickup types.

With all this Modulus-closing-scare,
I decided to snatch up another Modulus just in case
there is a ModulusY2K...

'05 Silver flake nonmatching stock...
ITS NOT the '97 silver/blue/gold I've been checking
TB, CL, Ebay for everyday for the past 2 years
BUT it was a steal and
it'll keep till I find one and trade it for :D

After looking through the classifieds recently, a question came to ming, of all the CF neck basses out there, it seems like Modulus basses have a lower resale value when compared to Zon, Status, etc. It just seems like there is a disparate used to new value with Modulus basses when compared to others. Good if you're wanting to pick one up, but not so much if you may be wanting to sell, it just seems odd.

Any thoughts as to why?

I think newer Modulus hold their value well and you do see them sell in the $3000 range from time to time.

Older Modulus (like my non-truss rod 1995) are much less expensive used. Usually in the $1000-1500 range.

If you think they go down in value once they become used, you should check out Alembic prices. The only basses that seem to really hold their resale are Fodera.

What's the rule of thumb, 70% or so if newer? It just seems like the VJ's and FU's really get beat down as compared to other Modulus models - even if only a couple years old and flawless. Bolt on vs neck through perhaps?

I just received my 6 string TBX from Joe last week, here is a couple of pics taken from my lame digital camera, I'm going to have some serious pro pics taken at the end of the week showing the detail of the instrument but in the time being especial since bad-rumors are being spread about Modulus here is a couple of shots of my 6 string TBX, it has a highly figured Koa top, alder back, Bartolini pu's, w/3 band eq, the top of the bass is gloss, the back of the entire neck is done in satin, the back of the body wings are done in gloss, and I had Joe sign his signature on the back of the head stock.
I've been friends with Joe since 1994 and he has always build the finest instruments for me and this particular TBX is the dream come true bass for me, Thank You Joe Perman for everything.
Way better pics coming soon!!!!

I have a feeling there are a lot more Moduli out there than other carbon necked basses. Zon, Status, and even Moses basses seem to be a little rarer.

For as long as Ive heard about/searched for Modulus basses (Fleas in particular) Ive always known them to be in the 1000-1500 range used. It seems like a good value for them, I'd never would have been able to pay the full retail/would have wanted to But I also wondered why their value dropped when used...maybe it is just what people are willing to pay for them at that given time. 3+ years ago they were common here Used and under 1300 but now they are very less common used and I see them going for (CL, Ebay, Talkbass) ~1600-1800.

Thanks, just kind of interesting to me that such great basses are fetching low used values.
